Hi Everyone,I've been thinking about getting a Lap Band.  According to Kaiser, I am qualified to have it fully covered because my BMI is 39% and I have high blood pressure.  I've tried dieting before and I just can't get past the 180 mark.  In the last 3 years my age is catching up with me, making weight loss harder to get off and keep off.  I'm a stress and emotional eater on top of it.  I'm signed up for the introduction class next week (9/14/10).  My husband already went through the introduction class and decided it wasn't right for him.  He thought that he wouldn't enjoy life if he had to give up his favorite foods: pizza, popcorn, rice, pasta, soda, etc.  The introduction class told him he would never be able to eat those anymore.  I can easily give those up, they are not my vices.  I love cookies and candy.  But, I know those will have to go too.  But, it will all be worth it to be able to have this extra weight off.  I'll have energy to play with my 3 young kids (aged 9, 8 and 1) and I'm sure some of my back/knee/feet pain will be relieved.  And I can only imagine that my self confidence will improve and allow me to be more social.I view the lap band as a good tool to help me stick to the healthy path when I'm not strong enough to do it on my own.  The idea of such a change in my eating ability is scary, but I'm going to go for it.  Some of the stories of people's difficulties with getting food stuck really scare me.  But, I'm sure it is just a learning experience.  After researching the Lap Band I found that nobody ever died from it.  So, here I am to learn about your stories, good and bad, make sure I have all the info I need, and then join in the support.Cheers to Good Health!
