Hi.  I'm Anne from NE Fla.  I had my gastric bypass surgery 3 weeks ago to correct a very large hiatel hernia that was choking life out of me.  The 3.5 hour surgery lasted 6.5 hours.  The best part so far, is that I can breathe.  I have copd.  Before surgery was on oxygen and was house bound.  Now, only need o2 when I go out.  Soon I won't need any "canned air".  As for weight loss, since surgery I've lost 20 lbs.  Not very much.  Getting discouraged.  But I have to keep reminding my self that it will get better once I start exercising.
I have a PT that comes in 3 times a week to help me get stronger.  I have a bad knee that makes walking difficult.
I'm sorry.  I'm babbling and not being vry coherent.  let's start again.  I'm a 65 yr. old retired teacher from Rhode Island.  I now live in Fla.  Have a few medical issues that make my life sooo interesting and fun.  I am also a smart ass.  LOL.
Back to bypass;  Stomach still sore.  Hate the diet.  I need meat, something to chew on.  guidelines Mayo sent me home with aren't very specific  I can not move bowels and pee very little.  Am experiencing night chills, and dream about food.  One thing the Drs. did not lie about;  I have  absolutely no desire for junk food.  No chocolate, sweets, nothing......EXCEPT Diet Coke.
Was very glad I found this site.  mayo only has support meetings once a month and it's an hour drive for me.  Well, that's me.  Looking forward to hearing from some of you.
