About Me

  • Gender
    Male
I'm in my early 40s.  Been fat all my adult life.  Tried many diets, and they were all the purest form of torture yet invented.  I felt like I was starving all the time.

I never ate for any reason other than hunger.  I don't think I suffered from chronic depression, and have a pretty good home life - it just took a huge amount of food to turn off my hunger.

I found a surgeon who offered an affordable VSG in my home state of Oregon, although his clinic is several hours away.  Nevertheless I bit the bullet and went for it.

My main motivation was health-related.  Although I wasn't suffering from any particular maladies pre-surgery, I knew without doubt my weight would soon start affecting me negatively.  Secondarily, I hoped to get better mobility and energy levels.

I'm mainly interested in BariatricPal because I have yet to find a support group in my home town that works with my schedule.  So I am fulfilling my promise to my surgeon that I would join a support group by joining BariatricPal.  Furthermore, I am very, very curious what other peoples' experiences have been.
