Hello1 I am a 44 year old Registered Nurse, wife, and mother (not in that order :) ) I developed PCOS when I was about 24 and went to our local OB/GYN to find out what the problem was and was basically told that I was just fat and that was causing all of my problems. Needless to say at that time I was very active with bicycling, sports, and living life that I didn't like that answer but there wasn't anyone else to go to so I just accepted that answer and chalked everything up to genetics. Six years later I met my husband to be and moved to Georgia. We decided that we wanted a child but after years of trying and failed fertility treatments I was diagnosed officially with PCOS. Diabetes followed soon after that and before you know it I am classified as morbidly obese. I swore I would never have WLS because being a nurse I saw the few that had terrible outcomes and complications. My friend had her WLS after our insurance covered the surgery and I thought wow I want to look that good so one day I just went into "combat" mode and made an appointment with my surgeon. I got all my clearances done in 1 1/2 months and am now waiting for the actual surgery date. DS was recommended to me because of my BMI and diabetes and high  cholesterol and triglycerides. I am excited but scared but this is something I HAVE to do for me and my little girl. I want to be able to run and play and ride roller coasters with her and just be around for as long as I can. I am a stout Christian and I know that He will bring me through this and give me the strength and courage to do my very best. :D
