I count my blessing each and every day. I’m grateful for everyone and everything that’s in my life. The last two years have been nothing I ever imagined, full of trials and tribulations. I lost my business to the recession and then lost my home in foreclosure.
I moved home to California after living in Montana for twenty years. I was looking forward to being around my friends and family. Nothing I’d planned seemed to go the right way but I never expected the things that followed. I moved in with a close friend and her family but she forgot to tell me she was being evicted two weeks after my arrival. I lived in motels for a few months and then was given a six week stay with my sister and her family. I was asked to re-home my service dog and when I wasn’t willing to do that, my six weeks turned into four weeks and I left. I slept in my car for a bit, sharing the backseat of a PT Cruiser with a 110 pound pooch was less than comfortable. My last option was living in a homeless shelter. They were kind enough to let me keep my dog and we spent nine months sleeping outside, on a bench, under the stars.
There were times I thought finding a job would never happen. After four months, I got a job. I paid my bills and saved the rest. I was in a decent place so, I moved into a house with five other housemates. Just when things were looking good, I was sick with Pneumonia and for two months I was in and out of Dr’s appointments, urgent care and the hospital. Needless to say, I lost my job and had to find a new one. I have a super job now and I’m on my way back to health and wealth.
I’ve wanted gastric bypass surgery for at least the last ten years. I grew up in Southern California and the moved to Montana. Within three weeks of arriving in Montana, I was in the hospital with severe asthma. The Dr put me on steroid treatments that were so extreme, I put on 115 pounds the first year and a half. I started a a short petite gal weighing in at 129 pounds. My curves were all in the right places. Since the asthma started I have put on a terrifying 150 pounds. Today I weigh 280 pounds.
It’s going to be my job to chronicle everything moving forward with my life. I will share the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to gastric bypass surgery. My past is so close to being history. I’m looking forward to the future and having a life again. I want the life that allows for walks and kickboxing classes and wearing a bathing suit in public, without feeling completely ashamed of my body. I want the active lifestyle I deserve.
Here’s to the future!
