Hello, my name is Ramie and I'm new the BP forum/community. I came accross it as I was searching Optifast and gastric sleeve information. It's been very helpful and I've learned some great things.

I've not had surgery but I'm considering it. I'm a Kaiser member and first wanted to try their medical weight loss program which is basically Optifast. 12 weeks active weight loss on the product and then we move to maintainance. I don't like it much. I can drive the shakes and chicken soup no problem but the bars are too sweet for me. Its been 2 weeks and I've lost 7 lbs.

i recently went to Kaiser's introductory overview on WLS to find out more and went away feeling slightly confused on how to continue in my weight loss journey. I will start a post with the follow up questions I have from that so it's in the right forum/thread.

I've been overweight most of my life. Growing up in a family that had to finish your dinner to get dessert....no matter how full. Veggies and balance were not part of the equation. Over the last few years, I've been working out faithfully 3 to 5 days a week with only a few pounds lost and no real progress. I'm tired of feeling like I'm working out in vain. My bloodwork and thyroid have been checked and I have no medical problems its seems preventing me from losing weight. The last thing for me to change was my food and the way I eat. Although we eat balanced meals it's not worked for me.

Glad to be here. Seems like a really great supportive and information group.
