Hi, all. I'm 63 years old with a bmi of 51. Yowza, huh? Had lap band surgery in 2003, and it didn't do a bit of good. Those of you with bad band experience will recognize the drill -- port flipped, second surgery needed, too much fill, not enough fill, just right fill but still hurling anyway. Got sick of the whole thing and got unfilled five years ago.

Since then steady weight gain, worsening of asthma and a rheumatoid condition. My ability to walk dimishing rapidly. Am quite sure I'll not see 65 unless I do something different and do it fast. Just today I heard the term "sleeve gastrectomy" for the first time. Have just completed several hours of online research about it, and then found this site.

So, here I am. I've been so resigned for so long to the idea of impending demise from obesity that I hardly care any more. Yet I want to find out if this sleeve surgery has any merit. That's where all of you come in. Is it worth the trouble, pain and expense? I remember the band flap a decade ago. Don't want that kind of misery again. I'm too old and too sick.
