My Name is Kevin M. from OC California. I recently turned 60. In my 20s and 30s I was a professional Athlete in the NFL after a decade in Pop Warner, Jr and Sr High School and four years of College. At the end of my career I had spent 24 consecutive years participating in the game. When I retired in 85 so did my insurance coverage and my decision to pursue a career as an entreprnuer at the time left insurance pretty much on the back burner. The first ten years were pretty good until I began to have strange sensations develop in my hips. Over the next five years both my hips and my left knee had degenerated to the point that I could not longer walk and was forced to use a wheel chair most of the time. Luckily after contacting one of my college Doctors we were able to come to an agreement for him to perform Bi-lateral hip replacements and a total left knee replacement in 2000. Over the next 13 years I developed several comorbidities but without insurance and no way to get because of "Pre Existing" conditions I had little to no options. 2014 "Along comes Obama" Well all I can say regarding Mr. Obamas insurance program is that it probably save my life and I am very grateful. My first examination in 15 years was through a program set up through the NFL and The Cleveland Clinic which was a two day complete physical covering all aspects of health from the physical to mental.  Upon completion I had been diagnosed with a mind boggling list of discoveries which included Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart disease, High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnea, Carpel Tunnel, Cervical and Lumbar Spinal Stenosis, Arthritis, Depression and Anxiety disorder, Chronic Pain syndrome, Low-T and the need for revisions of both my hip and knee replacements. Needless to say it was pretty overwhelming.  Shortly after that I found BP during a google search. I am 3 days away form my surgery,  In the ten days since I began my pre-op program I have lost 21lbs. I feel prepared and am looking forward to the next step in getting my **** together. The biggest benefit I anticipate fro me from the surgery is creating non negotiable boundaries for some of the choices I make in life.
