About Me

I started the journey towards gastric bypass last month after weighing my self New Year's Eve and seeing that I hit 343 lbs. That's the highest I have ever been! I had been noticing more and more all the things that I couldn't do anymore and those things I can do take so much effort! I saw the Md on January 25th and started the 6 month process of surgery prep. Currently I'm working on exercising daily and keeping to my calorie limits. I'm not looking at this as "dieting", I'm looking at it as my lifestyle change. I gave up soda prior to seeing the Md which was almost as bad as when I quit smoking! Currently I'm only drinking water and occasionally unsweetened tea. That alone is a huge feat for me! I have lost 14lbs so far. I need to be at 306 to make my goal for surgery. It is a struggle daily to make the needed changes. Especially when going out to eat! I have been eating a salad first and using minimal dressing then eating small amounts of the main food (s). Documenting my food daily really helps keep me in line. I am also lucky that my husband is joining me in this journey. His first appointment is in another week. It's a great support to be making these changes together. I keep telling him to think of how we'll be next year at this time-smaller, healthier and still losing. Trying to keep positive!!!
