Since my pre-teenage years I have dieted my way to 350 plus pounds. I can’t even begin to name all of the diets I have tried to lose this weight.

In the past, I thought that surgery was the easy way out…how wrong I was. I chuckle at myself when I think of the first day how God placed in my heart to have RNY surgery. I remember my first epiphany, occurred while at work talking to a co-worker about how difficult it is to lose weight, and she shared with me her success with having Gastric bypass surgery and how this was the best decision she ever made in life. She actually self-paid and had surgery in the Dominican Republic. One month later, God whispered to me again, as I stood in the parking lot of Chinese restaurant, feeling as if my back would break (all of 3 minutes) for my friend to park her car, that I would have surgery address my weight-related issues. I told my friends, that I was tired and that I am going to have Gastric surgery. The next day I discussed surgery with my husband; and he was and still remains my biggest supporter! My recovery was rough! During this time, I often thought what in the world did I do to myself. But I never ceased praying and thanking Jesus that I made it through and I knew this pain will pass. Sure enough, one day I awoke with my pain almost gone…

This was the absolute BEST decision of my life, to give myself a fighting chance of living life God intended me to live when I decided to have Laparoscopic RNY surgery.

I now know for myself that no, surgery is NOT the easy way out…it’s only a tool, and I am so happy to have been blessed with my tool.
