Hmm...my story. Most of my life I did not have a weight issue. I was athletic and very active. It wasn't until I had cummulative injuries: factured back, pelvis, bilateral wrists (same time), and sprained bilateral ankles (same time) along with sedatary positions (nursing school for 4 years).

I found that I never felt satiety (feeling of fullness) after I ate. Trust me, I could out eat and drink most guys (not something to be proud of). I also learned to eat fast due to eating while driving from call to call as a police officer and Deputy Sheriff Coroner (I would have to consume a whooper with cheese, large fries, and large coke in 5 minutes while driving code 3.)

Fast forward to 2012. My sister approached me in August 2012 and told me that she was going to TJ, Mexico to have a vertical gastric sleeve surgery. My heart sunk at first. Normal feelings of fear for her; however my sister reasured me that she needed to do this to save her life. (Her former boyfriend died at 40 y/o (she found him) after laying down after taking a shower from sleep apnea.) So, my sister had the surgery and her boyfriend (now husband) went with her. Success!! I watched the pounds just melt off her.

On September 8th, 2012, we were celebrating my sister's birthday. She approached me and told me that she and our father would pay for my surgery and airfare for me and my best friend. OMG...this was the best gift I've ever had. What a blessing to have a supportive family. So, I scheduled my surgery for December 7th, 2012.

My girlfriend and I flew to San Diego where we were met by a driver who took us to the hotel. If you want to know the company my sister and I used, you can privately message me. Then, when we were at the hotel, plans changed and the surgeons wanted me to stay the night in the hospital the night before so I would be there in the morning and labs/EKG could be done pre-op.

My surgeons were awesome! Dr. Lousiana Valenzuela and Dr. Ismal Carbera-Garcia. I love them! I loved the surgical staff...the anesthesiologist was very kind...gave me good drugs cause I don't remember his name.

Surgery went smoothly without complications. It was about an hour (out at 11am) from what I was told; however I had the best anesthesia sleep and slept until 5:30 or 6pm. My girlfriend did her job...woke me up for walking.

I was able to walk but OMG when I got back to my room, I had wretching from hell. I felt like an exorcism was being performed in my body. I puked from my toes and the entire hospital probably heard me. This only happened after I walked. It almost made me not want to walk, but then the gas pain was not comfortable either.

The next day, Saturday, there were my surgeons! I couldn't believe they were not only doing rounds, but had surgeries on Saturday and Sunday! Anyway, they figured out, and I agreed, that I had a severely swollen sleeve. They ordered IV Methylprednisol. That was Jesus infused into my veins! Thank God! It worked and was felt like I was going to run a marathon the next day.

About 2 weeks later, I went back to work. I can't believe the transformation I've made in such a short time, but my health has significantly improved as well. My hypertension is under control, my cholestorl is normal, and only have 1 point to go to be non diabetic!

Thank you for stopping by and reading my story. If there is anything I can share with you, please don't hesitate to contact me. I have the famous Mexico Trip Tips and Sleeve Bible(s). I'll send them to you....free. ;)
Sincerely,
Jen (AngelNP)
