Hello. My name is Cindy. I used to be a vivacious energetic woman, who my kids called super-mom. I loved life and was always busy going here and there with the kids and my husband of 27 years. I was an office manager for a small company that grew to 4 different locations while I worked there. I loved my job, my family, and I loved my life. Then I was injured and my whole world changed.

A serious neck injury has led to a lot of laying around in bed, day in and day out, not doing a lot of things. I was already a little over weight before the injury, but now I have entered the morbidly obese category. Have you thought about that phrase "morbidly obese"? It sounds horrible, and I suppose it is.

For the past 6 years I have been very inactive. 2013 is my year to take control. I am taking the steps necessary to have a pain pump implanted that will help control pain, which in turn should enable me to be more active. Along with that, I finally (after 2 years of much thought and research) have committed to the lapband.

I love food, and I don't think that will change. I just need to learn how to enjoy it on a much smaller level. I love chocolate, which will be hard to give up. I'm hoping that after the pre-op I won't crave it anymore. I love going out to eat with friends and family. Don't know how I'm going to change that one, but I'll figure out a healthier way to dine out.

Bottom line is I am dang excited to finally have hope. HOPE for less pain via the pain pump implant. HOPE for less pain because I will weigh less. HOPE for feeling good about myself. HOPE that I will be able to spend more time out of bed enjoying life.

So that is my story. I just want to feel better. I don't care if I am a size 4 wearing fabulous clothes. I just want to get small enough that I can function better and feel better. The lapband is the best tool for me to accomplish that goal, and I'm committed. I hope to get support by all of you here at lapbandtalk.com
