I was being treated for COPD and asthma for about 4 years. My lung doctor discovered after many many tests that I had a hiatal hernia and that made my stomach be in the wrong place. That explained the 24 hour a day coughing but the steroids made the cough go away not realizing it was just covering up other things. I was put on 6 pills a day to eat without having reflex problems. My lung doctor signed me up for a meeting for the LapBand. I thank him for this. I only take 1 pill a day for high blood pressure which will be under control real fast. I went to my first meeting in October, 2011. I was chosen right away but because of my age and the local hospital being taken over by a larger one, things got out of control and my January-February, 2012 date got moved and moved. I finally got banded July 30, 2012. A very long wait. Even my surgery time was moved from 3pm until 6:30pm and that made me almost want to change my mind. One of my fears has always been excess skin. My insurance covers a tummy tuck only. My brother said buy a body Spanx, like they make it.
It stinks being banded in the middle of summer and you can't go to the beach or the pool where I live. My nephew is getting married in November and I hope to wear a size 16 dress then. Right now I wear a women's size 18-20 depending on the article. I don't have a goal weight, is this wrong???
A few days before the surgery my PCP doctor ordered an ultra sound on my left calf because of consent pain and a back x-ray. The back x-ray showed that I have crumbling discs in my back from arthritis and the calf pain is a pinched nerve from the back. Hopefully losing weight and exercise will help these problems. I feel older than my almost 62.
