About Me

  • Gender
    Female
I'm a stay at home mom of 4 great kids aged 18-7. I just moved to a new city 6 weeks ago. Terrified of gaining even more weight as a result of not knowing anyone and being bored and lonely, I started looking into an advertisement I had seen on tv for slimband.
I know- why not eat right and exercise...wow, what a revelation why didn't I think of that?! lol, I've been unsuccessfully losing 40lbs and then regaining it for the past 16 yrs. Diets: Berstein's 3 times, weight watchers 5 times, Slim Fast, Nutra System, Jenny Craig, Xenical you name it I've tried it. Being active: Hot Yoga, 10km running groups which I loved but herniated 2 discs and blew my hip flexer (a year on drugs and physio and a surgery wait list), gym memberships, aqua fit, deep water running, roller blading, hiking, biking and just plain ole walking. I've always been active but unsuccessful in keeping the weight off. I'd lose weight then regain it the minute stress entered my life. I'd be left feeling like an even bigger failure every time I'd gain it back.
Moving away no one knows me, know one's waiting for me to fail again, I can concentrate on just doing this once and for all anonymously without all my skinny aquaintences judging me. I too have spoken with Niki at slimband, she's been awesome. I've done a fair bit of research, some scary, some positive some alarming but it was the cost that really was a big thing for me to get over. Being a giver made making the decision to spend $16,000 on myself a really hard thing for me to wrap my head around. In the end my husband who loves me now at my very worst, said I just want you happy, if this is what it's going to take to bring you happiness we have to do it. I called Niki back and we booked my surgery for Dec 1, 2011. Got a call yesterday they are moving my surgery date up to Nov 22nd!! that's 6 days away!!
I'm on my way to re-inventing myself, or maybe going back to who I used to be- the one not hiding out in a fat suit.
