    Tucson bandsters!

Hey guys, I've fallen off the boat and I need to find some bandsters to help me to get back on!!! Any bandsters around here?
  2. While this is true, because she wasn't working out beforehand, the likeliest cause for the lack of any weight lost is due to muscular Water retention. It's pretty amazing what a few sessions with good 'ole Tony can do .
  3. There's no amount of "multvitamins", in general. Just take one dose, as directed, of the multivitamin you bought. If you take too much, it could cause problems. Be careful and follow the directions on the bottle!!

    Could This Be Muscle Mass?

This is most definitely a "loaded" question. haha. But I will answer it like this: My wife is having the same problem. There are lots of different reasons why the scale could be not moving. As I'm sure you know, muscle weighs more than fat, so it is POSSIBLE that you're building muscle faster than you're losing fat. Note I said possible, not probable. Having said that, though, I have zero idea what your training routine, cardio routine, and diet are, so I couldn't even venture to guess how likely that is. Four things we need to know: a) how many calories do you eat, per day? what does your diet consist of? c) what is your normal workout? d) how often do you work out?

    Tucson people?

I would love to meet you guys and we could have our own little support group and/or walk. What are your schedules like?

    Drinking Soda's??

I used to drink soda most or two most days, but since I stopped, I can't do it anymore. It's almost painful and it makes me feel bloated, like another person said. I would steer clear, honestly. Plus it's bad for your teeth, if nothing else..:

    Anyone Doing Or Did Insanity....

I did it for the first two weeks...and then I wussed out. It was really cool and I loved how I felt afterwards, but it was a little tough on my knees. I'll try it again after I get down to 215-220 or so.
  8. Honestly, think it's better to take a multi-Vitamin that not to for the majority of the population. All of the water-soluable Vitamins will get excreted out with urine, so there's no realistic chance of overdosing. Obviously, overdoing the fat-soluable vitamins is a small risk, but multi-vitamins that would cause something like that are few and far between, especially in the popular OTC brands. Also, there is a grain of truth about the Iron in multi-vitamins. That's why men's multi-vitamins don't have as much iron. It's a good supplement for women, though, because of the menstrual cycle. Now, there have been some legitimate studies recently about Calcium supplement dosing in women and how around 800mg/day is okay, but around 1100mg/day increases risk of cardiac events as much as 30%, I think it was. I'll see if I can find that study and I'll put it up here if I can track it down. I actually start losing a little hair when I first started with the band, but I was going a little crazy with the small portion idea. After I fell off that train and started eating a little more, I was fine.

    Anyone Do Bodyspace?

I just found this networking thing on bodybuilding.com called "bodyspace". It's free and all that. A less intense version of myspace, perhaps? haha. Anyway, I signed up and started a group called "weight loss surgery" for those of us who have lap-bands and such. There weren't any ones like that on there that I could find, so I figured I'd start one. Banders unite!! I'm not trying to make this one of those "if U want 2 become da ripped-est person eva, come here!" types of things, by the way. haha. This is for all of us, not just those that want to try to get lean. I just discovered bodybuilding.com about a week-ish ago while I was trying to get some Protein and Multivitamins for the wife and I. I was poking around there and they have a TON of great workouts to try to mix up the regular routine, great articles to read about almost anything related to health, and more than you'd ever want to know about supplements. Mostly, though, it's just nice to have people around that lost a ton of weight and be able to read about their whole experience. At any rate, I like it, thus far. This is by no means an ad for them, by any stretch. I have ZERO affiliation with bodybuilding.com, nor am I looking to. I just found this and it's a great resource that I wanted to share with my fellow banders. To avoid mods thinking I'm a salesman, I'll not post a link, but if you want to find it, just go to bodybuilding.com and look for the tab that says bodyspace. Once you sign up, look for a group called "weight loss surgery". That's mi casa. There's actually a forum on there, too, that I set up. You can post questions, comments, or whatever on there. If you have questions, let me know!
  10. Let it be known, I've been known to lecture. Yes, I'm that kind of guy, so I understand you're frustration. Let it also be known that I respect your motivation. It takes a lot to get through injuries. I get it. I had a traumatic brain injury that had doctors telling me that I would never work out again...but I didn't let that stop me. Now, the gist of what you were trying to get at is fully legitimate, and I tend to agree. "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen." However, remember who it is that you're talking to and the goal of this whole forum. The goal here is to encourage people to lose weight. It's not so much of a "tough love" environment. Also remember that everybody reacts differently to "tough love". Some more positively than others. All that said, while I understand and agree with what you're trying to say, I would recommend toning the "enthusiasm" down a little. haha. (Oh, and on a side note, until my account got messed up, I had a few hundred posts.)

    Tiredness And Lack Of Motivation

I'm kind of with Jacqui. You could be over-training, but you could also be not having enough calories. How many calories are you eating in an average day? Also, how many grams of protein do you think you're consuming per day?

    Hows your sex life?

Before I met my wife at my lowest banded weight, I was incredibly happy with my sex life. It was NOT hard to meet a girl and have...relations. lol. Luckily for me, though, I met that lovely lady and, as expected, the frequency has decreased. haha.

    Fitness as new addiction

I'm with Jenn on this one. As long as it doesn't affect other aspects of your life in a negative way, you've picked a pretty awesome thing to get addicted to. haha. I'm the one who is jealous now! hahaha.
