Hey all, I was sleeved on Monday 3/27 and I'm starting to wonder if it was worth it. The gas pains are real, and I know they will soon go away but I can't seem to swallow my liquids without pain. Please tell me this will too pass quickly. [emoji20]

It will get better as the days progress. Walking around the house helped me a lot with the gas. Feel better soon [emoji3]

Regret is such a common feeling after wls. I literally cried the first few days because I wanted to go back in time and reverse it. I'm now 16 days post op and I am so happy I did this. I feel like my old self now and the weight is falling off. the gas pain and pain you are feeling will be gone before you know it! Walk around as much as you can and get plenty of rest. :) congrats to you for taking back control of your life.

Nothing about this journey is easy. You will feel better and better with each passing day and week. Make walking and meeting your Protein and Water goals your full-time job right now. Doing those things will speed your recovery.

Good luck!

you need muscle to burn off the C02 gas from the surgery. Stand up by a wall and go up and down on the balls of your feet. There's nothing wrong with your calve muscles, and it'll help burn that gas off.

I had regrets after surgery for a week or two, that went away as the pounds started melting off and the pain went away. Gas pain was totally gone in a few days, just keep walking around, it will go away.

Girl, buyers' remorse is so common. I promise this will pass. Focus on walking around, Fluid intake and Protein intake. That's the recipe for success. You need to move around to work the gas through your body. You can't really burp or fart it out since they used it to inflate your abdominal cavity to make the procedure easier. I was in tremendous pain for about 3-4 days but it passed very quickly.

Thanks everyone. Gas is finally starting to make its way out, and nausea went away. Now to focus on continuous sipping!

That's great to hear Jess! The pain lasts only a short time, but the positives will last and feel so much better! You got this! Keep on walking and it will help rid the gas, heal your body and drop the pounds! Good luck!

Oh man I needed to hear this so much. Just like the OP I'm in so much pain I'm wondering why I did this!

The point is to make it difficult for you to eat and drink. To lose weight. To break the codependent behavior you have with food. It will get better. Focus on other self soothing strategies. Take a hot bath, call a friend, read a book.

I'm with you there. I was sleeved 5/4 and I had to stay 3 days in the hospital for constant vomiting. When I got home on day 4 and I was still throwing up I must have cried my eyes out for 10 minutes straight on the toilet I was puking in. A lot of people have said regret seeps in during the first week and I found myself telling myself I wanted to go back in time to not do it. But gas is finally starting to exit my body. Chest pains are still very horrible but I'm down 13 pounds already and that tells me this is worth it. This procedure is definitely mentally challenging but you have a great support system here. Everyone is always so good at reminding us that this will pass. Keep your head up, you're doing great!

There will be a few stages of regret or questioning as you progress. New and wierd changes with your body and some hormonal imbalances could make you feel a bit crazy but as each day passes, you get used to it and learn to love yourself and the decision you made! Before you know it, you will be several months out and almost to your goal! Good luck on your journey!!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
