Post-Op'ers -- What are your daily nutritional goals

Recommended Posts

I'm a week post-op and still on my liquid diet. In general, I've started getting around 650-700 calories a day via Protein Shakes. In general, I'm able to get in around 60-70g of Protein, 45g carbs, 10-12g fat and 9gram of sugar. I've been able to get in my full 64oz of Water starting around day 5 post-op.

I'm not sure if I should be eating fewer calories -- what are you guys doing?

I am 6 days Post-Op, I'm getting my Protien and getting over my 64oz of liquid. Am I going to fast? Plus today I was actually a little hungry! Is this normal?

Wow! I'm nowhere near your Protein or calorie intake but everyone is different. I'm at 24g protein through Protein Shakes and protein Water. I'm getting about 300 calories a day. I am getting about 50oz of water a day. Good for you for being able to get your nutrition up so soon. I'm working on listening to my body signals and drinking on a regular schedule as well taking my supplements religiously. Good luck with your journey! You're off to a flying start!

Don't worry about calories at this point. Just continue to focus on getting your protein in. There's ban a lot of posts lately of people asking about getting out of a stall and seeing most have their calorie intake too low. In time there will be some trial & error on finding out what works best for you. Once you get into the pureed/soft food stages you'll begin to pay more attention to calories & carbs.

I'm getting right at 60 grams of Protein and at least 64 ounces Water. Tomorrow 3/30, I will be 1 week post op. Even though I'm full most of the time, I want to chew something. I made my kids a salad and I just wanted to chew a piece of lettuce.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
