Looking for advise...

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 months out from a full traditional ds. And I have lost 46 lbs. I feel like that is a slow number but I'm proud of the number all the same.

I watch my carbs and try not to overdo and try to have healthier choices everyday but here I am.

I have lost of total of 6 pounds in two months... I'm going to call that a stall - a long stall and believe that we are going to kick back into gear at some point here quickly. I still have 50-60 lbs to loose so maintaining at this weight is not a option yet!

I just saw my Dr and he didn't seem worried at all and said I was trucking along fine. He was very happy and told me to see him in another 3 months. I don't mind the slow course as long as I'm still moving along...towards my goal!

I know that everyone losses at a different rate and I was a lower bmi to start with so I am hoping that is the case but just wanted some support.

As a lightweight it sounds as if you're right on target. I remember I lost 19lbs. in my first month. That was pretty much the least of any DSer I knew. But I was like you. I knew I'd just keep chugging along. And I did. And I have. Almost 12 years later. :)

I'm not a doctor, but I remember my nutritionist talking about this. How are you doing on your Proteins? She has said multiple times that people who aren't losing as fast as they think they should, or are stalling are generally not having enough Protein in their diet.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
