Call me crazy, but I am I the only one that feels like my weight loss has aged me 10 years in the past few months?

It's like wrinkle city has suddenly appeared on my face, turkey neck, the whole thing. I'll take that over the fat, but I was not expecting this...at all

yep! About 50 lbs ago, I started getting offers for senior discounts. Granted, I'm in my late 50's, and it's 55 at some places (but 60 at most places), but still, I always looked young for my age and have never in my life until a few months ago have been offered a senior discount (at places that offer it at 55, I've always had to ask). I now say yes even at the places where it's 60 (even though I'm not 60 yet), since they were rude enough to ask!

I had RNY gastric bypass surgery 3 1/2 years ago. I developed very fine wrinkles all over my face. I looked like I was 100 years old. I can accept some of that because I am 68 but this was going way too far. My wife suggested that I use a product called Bio-Oil which I found at CVS but other pharmacies and Wal-Mart also carry the product. I apply the oil first thing in the morning. No more fine wrinkles. I have been using this product now for over 3 years and very pleased with the results.

After surgery, meeting your daily Fluid requirement is very important. If you do not meet this requirement, it can also cause this type of wrinkles.

Yes! This has been my experience, I turn 50 next year and when I tell people my age they are usually shocked...I've always looked younger. Guess I'll have to embrace my 50's just a wee bit earlier...:)

It's because fat keeps those wrinkles filled out.. I noticed the aged thing when my younger sister had bypass 10 or so years ago.. She looks older than I do.. That won't last I guess since I finally had the bypass 2 months ago

This is a funny little story. My hubby is 66 almost 67, everyone thinks he is 10 years younger than he is. I'm 60 and I have aged a lot since my 1/2 years ago. My granddaughter said, PAPA doesn't even look his age, and when her mom ask about me she said, she didn't use to but since she got skinny she really does!! WOW! It is ok tho. I'm super duper happy with my weight loss. I'll take it.

Yes. I am 52 and I have a turkey neck now. The loose skin on my arms and thighs are not pleasant to look at either. Honestly, I do think I look older.

I am 55 and have a baby face and have always looked much younger than I am, but I am fully prepared that once this fat is gone those wrinkles are gonna come out BIG time. But I would rather be wrinkled and be able to walk without excruciating back and knee pain, so I guess this is my fate too.

if it's any consolation, I've heard some people claim that a few months after they hit their lowest weight, the fat sort of redistributes a bit and they start looking better - although I don't know if it's true for *everyone*.

I found this to be somewhat true. And Botox and Juvederm work great.

As someone who is 45 and always mistaken for younger...and going in for a RnY next month...I kinda wish I hadn't clicked on this topic! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
