Single Incision Gastric Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I've been following the forum for several months now but only recently decided to take the plunge and contact some doctors. My research and these forums have led me to Dr. Ariel Ortiz, Dr. Fernando Garcia and Dr. Jalil Illan. I'm hoping to have single incision Gastric Sleeve this month. Has anyone opted for the single incision gastric sleeve?

Yes, I had single incision surgery in Mexico on Dec. 5th. It went very well. Anything in particular you'd like to know?

Thank you for the replies! @@MrsPenguin I posed the question because I hadn't read or watched a single testimonial from anyone who had single incision gastric sleeve. I was starting to wonder if there was a reason some avoided it. My BMI is also 34, I'm hoping I'm a good candidate for this procedure.

I submitted a request for more information from BariatricPal Team MX as well as the health questionnaire. I will give you a call later. I'm hoping to make a decision and get something scheduled soonish. Thank you!

I think it may be a relatively new way to do the surgery. It cost me $1,000 more to do it that way. You still end up with 2 incisions...one main one at your belly button and another smaller one of to the side for the drain. I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time for $700 more. You may want to consider having your gal bladder out at the same time, as the statistic is 30-40% of sleeve patients end up having trouble with their gall bladder. I didn't want to risk having to have another surgery down the line. Talk to your doctor. I hope this helps!

I had the single incision sleeve with Dr. Garcia in 2014. I have 1/4 inch scar on my left side from the one drain that is unnoticeable. But I have also gained my weight back...nothing to do with the single incision process though. My story is in my signature.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
