Glucose Tolerance test and the sleeve

Recommended Posts

I will be 27 weeks pregnant at my next OB appointment. They also have me scheduled for my glucose test. I want to hide. Those of you that have had it post surgery how did it go? At this point I'm not concerned about being able to drink it fast enough, my concern is how is it going to make my body feel. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to drink the drink fairly quickly but within 5 mins it came back up. The woman mentioned me needing to come back to do it again or do the longer one and I said no thank you. I spoke with the OB and he had me monitor my sugar for a week 2 times a day opposed to trying to do that test again since I knew there was no way it would ever stay down. I

I hope it goes well for you!! I know some people are able to do it... my son just didn't like me to have anything sweet.. I couldn't even have chocolate while pregnant lol

My OB came up with a alternate option since I am really struggling with even drinking Water.

I am doing 2 weeks of recording my blood sugars 4-5 times a day. First thing in the morning before eating, and then 2 hours post anything I would consider a meal. I hate pricking myself but I knew I would not tolerate that drink at all.

My OB told me she doesn't do the glucose test with the drink with gastric sleeve patients she test it different. I didn't ask how I'm just 15 weeks

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
