Much slower weight loss when revision from lapband to bypass

I had sleeve to bypass revision and considering I weighed much less I lost I beleive at a quicker rate. I see you are eating oats for breakfast; during the wieght loss phase I would never have eaten such a high carb food plus it does not satiate you Protein does. Stick with higher protein meals and maybe your weight loss will increase. Oh same with Beans I didn't have any beans until I reached my goal weight. Now I am 7.8 punds below my goal wieght and I do eat beans!

Wow that weight loss to me is awesome!!! I'm getting ready for revision and I don't remember losing a thing close to that in so short of time.

Reading those that have lost 17-20lbs a month scares me a little actually, even though I know for surgery it could be a person short term normal. I've never lost that much so quickly. You sound be proud of yourself.

Your not alone I had my surgery on 12 18 and only lost 45 pounds to date myself! The dietician said I should have lost a bigger percentage of weight! I was speechless! Losing slow and at a turtles pace but in reality it's more than I have ever done on my own in such a short while

My doctor told me revisions lose slower. I'm just happy to be losing again :)

Yes a decline on the scale I will take.My appetite has returned 4 month post op but I control it with small Protein meals spaced out.I must incorporate the oatmeal at least 3x weekly or suffer crazy constipation.I have cut out sugar.The Protein Drinks have about 2 grams of sugar max.No fruits just vegetables and protein.I struggle with Water intake.

Congratulations to you all for such amazing weight loss. 10+ pounds a months I AMAZING!!! Don't forget we are all different (ages / muscle composition / resting metabolic rate / exercise intensity etc). Despite that thought I will be SUPER happy if I continue to lose 10 pounds per month. To me, that is a more sustainable, healthy weight loss that means I may not lose any hair!!!!

Well done and stay determined. You are doing GREAT!!

I went last week, have lost 42 since revision in April. Surgeon told me I was right on track. Not going to lie I am disappointed but I feel great better than with band.

According to my surgeon, the weight loss with a revision is all over the place, because of bad habits developed in dealing with the band. Could be? I think as long as you are going in the right direction put a focus on how you feel, rather than all on the number. Good Job on your weight loss!

I had revision surgery from band to bypass on July7, 2016. I had that stupid band in for 5 yrs and it was a disaster. However, I too heard from the nutritionist that those of us who have this revision lose more slowly, great.

Full disclosure I'm 62 yrs old, so maybe my metabolism is screwed up. I've been averaging about 2 lbs a week loss but I already had a few weeks of no loss....I started at 255, I was 238 on the day of surgery and 215 now, 11 weeks out.

I am glad to have the looser clothing, even underwear...But I've had a few naysayers who I know expected to see more of a loss. I cringe at the idea of answering the question, how much have you lost? or my favorite, couldn't you have lost that without surgery? grrrrrr.

So I have decided that when asked I will smile and say, I don't like to discuss it....

I'm Scheduled to have revision from band to bypass Thursday sept 22nd but I was called by the nurse to come into the clinic early in the morning to have blood work done so they can get results back before surgery because my potassium level was high .., I hope this doesn't affect me having the surgery on Thursday, has anyone had this happen where your potassium level was higher than the norm..The nurse said it should be @5.3 mines @6 ..any experience from anyone

glad for this thread. I gained a ton of weight when my band failed in the spring 40 lbs in a few months. Someone showed me a picture from the spring and all i could think was omg I look sooo big...then i checked my journal and i was 15lbs lighter than i am now. :( I was hoping that the "slower" weight loss post revision wouldn't be the case for me only because i gained so quickly. well I went from 7lbs/week in the 2 week pre op to about the same in the first 2 weeks. and now I'm fighting to lose a lb a week. Mentally I'm feeling so behind because I have a ways to go to get to pre-band failure and then i'll start feeling like I'm gaining ground as I work my way down to the pre-pregnancy weight. I'd love to hear from revisionists who did eventually hit goal. I need some inspiration right now...

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
