Time off for 360 body lift

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! I'm hoping to have a 360 body lift and breast lift this summer. I was wondering how much time to take off. I work as an RN in a clinic so I'm in with patients and also do a lot of desk work. I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to pain. I was honestly thinking of taking 8 weeks to really heal and be comfortable before returning to work. Can you provide me any feedback about what the normal expectation is? Thanks!!!

I was only scheduled for 4 weeks off after my extended Tummy Tuck (almost a 360 lift, my scar only has maybe a 2 inch gap in the back above my butt crack) and breast lift with implants. I ended up only being able to work half days when I went back at 4 weeks. If you can do 8 weeks, definitely take it! Otherwise shoot for at least 6 weeks.

Desk job, and I took 6 weeks off. I also had breast and arm lift at same time... I was sucking down Protein and focused on healing - needed all of those 6 weeks off.

OMG that is discouraging to hear. I could never take off 6 weeks.

You certainly could. That's why we have the Family and Medical Leave Act in the first place.

Is that paid or unpaid leave?

Unpaid usually, unless your employer offers additional benefits and there is the possibility of getting disability. It's not ideal to have to take that much unpaid leave or a reduced income from disability, but you'd have to budget for it just as you would have to budget for the costs of the surgery itself.

I plan on taking FMLA. I have enough extended leave to get full pay for the first week and a half (used the rest when I had my sleeve almost 2 years ago, then we stopped being able to accrue EIB) then I plan to take short term dissability, which will be 60-70% of my base pay. Enough to get me through my recovery for sure, then i'll go back full time.

The only think I feel bad about is leaving my fellow nurses (there are 3 of us) to cover the clinic for 8 weeks. I know thats a lot of work...but I dont' want to go back too soon and either not be able to handle it, or end up with complications healing. I may even see if there is the option to come back part time if I'm not completely healed and feeling great at 8 weeks. Not sure if that would be an option...but it's worth looking in to!

I'm on commission, so unless I win Powerball (LOL) or something like that a full body lift is not going to be possible. Good luck to you though.

I had Exstended Thigh lift and Upper Eye Lid Surgery,Arm and Breast lift and skin removal ,belt-Lipectomy . You need at least 2 weeks, but in my experience you need to take 4 weeks off. There is no pain with these surgeries, but you are very uncomfortable because the skin is so tight and pulling and therefore you are very restricted on what you can do.

What is a 360 body lift... once I lose the weight I want after my revised surgery I will have to have the skin removed because I have extra sensitive skin

I took about 3 1/2 weeks off for a desk job. Should have taken six. I had an area in the back that split open and took about 4 months to heal. I also didn't feel great for months. I think it would have healed faster if I had rested more. Do yourself a favor and take at least 6 weeks. Being on your feet is more draining than you might think.

For all who responded to this thread - I have started the process for a 360 body lift. Wasn't planning on even trying to submit to insurance. Did any of you get it covered and if so what made them say yes? Thanks!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
