Thanks for posting this. It was interesting. I see that there are profound differences between individuals body chemistry. It's represented with patients on this forum. We all drop weight at different rates with basically the same diet program.

I don't quite agree its the "holy grail of diets" as they put it. Whats healthy and good for us today. Will change as more research is done.

My hope they find a definitive way to treat obesity. It's truly a disease. No one asked for this condition. Its an epidemic world wide.

This is definitely food for thought. I'm having trouble losing my last fifty pounds even though I'm not overeating by any measure, especially compared to how I ate pre surgery. I do eat lots of tomatoes and have relied on large salads with balsamic vinegar. Maybe specific foods like these are sabotaging me and I don't even know it.

This is interesting and I would be curious to hear more about the study.

One red flag I saw was that one part of the study they mentioned was only for one week. Since our bodies are complex systems, I would be very cautious about extrapolating data from a one week study to include long-term results.

I think the concept of more individualized eating plans is interesting. For so long we've seen blanket statements about what's good or bad for everyone.

I'm just glad the research is being done. It's an epidemic that no one has figured out quite how to solve. I was happy for the opportunity to participate in a study when I have my surgery. They took samples of blood and a little bit of fat while during the procedure. Just hope it helps!

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
