Why can't I help myself?

Recommended Posts

Why can't I drop this 10 pounds my doctor wants me to loose, I lost 7 from my appt 2 weeks ago. I stepped on the scale today and I gained those 7 back. Wtf? Is it my PCOS. Why can't I do anything to help myself. Im doing everything to a T! It's not like I'm lazy I'm a nanny and I chase kids all day. I'm so annoyed. And I have my last appt with mental evaluation next Thursday. And I'm scared of her . She's the one who told me to loose the 10 pounds. The NUT and NP are happy with my progress. I can't win

@caprice, I am going through the same issues right now. I keep gaining the same 6 lbs. I have been going through this since June. Don't freak out, this might all just be Water weight that continues to fluctuate. You can definitely lose the 10 lbs by your appointment next week, but it might take some buckling down such as cutting out all sugar (including fruit) for a week. Don't give up!

Switch to eating Protein and veggies for a week and just cut carbs except for veggies. Just say if it has carbs, besides from veggies or eggs, then I can't have it. This will not work if you are vegetarian, but you do that and walk 30 minutes a day and you should be good.

Yes, cutting carbs will do unimaginable things for your weight loss. It will also really help you out post-op when, at least in the initial few months, significant carbs are out of the question. I think most of the regain people experience a year or more out is because carbs slowly become an option again. I expect that to happen to me and I don't care as long as there is a tight ceiling on it...and that ceiling would be provided by the sleeve.

Unlike some dieters, I never tried to seriously lower carbs as part of any trim-down, and consequently I never really lost much weight, let alone permanently. What you will find is that a couple of bites of carbs, just like a couple of bites of anything else post-op, is extremely satisfying. Best wishes!

Go ahead and start the pre-op diet. My doctor allowed me to have for the first week a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and then a dinner of green leafy vegetables and lean meat, which translated for me as a bowl of salad greens with grilled chicken or tuna. The second week was all liquid, 3 Protein Shakes a day plus as much chicken broth and sugar free Jello as I wanted. I lost 25lbs those 2 weeks. A bit of a warning, for the first 2-3 days you will feel like hell. You will have a headache, be moody and may feel like you are going to pass out. Just stick with it and after the first 2-3 days your headache will go away and you will feel normal again.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
