@@Sleevilicious

My surgeon never took me off my Omeprazole 40 mg twice a day. The Gastric Sleeve generally is known for making GERD worse in most cases.

I'm 9 months out and still on it for GERD. Probably will be for a long time.

I had a sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. My surgeon said I'd be on Nexium or Prilosec for life postoperative for ulcer prevention.

I was also sleeved in Mexico and my doctor sent me home with their version of Prilosec. He told me to start taking it immediately (in the morning), and that if needed, I could take Zantac at night. I NEVER suffered with heartburn/acid reflux before surgery but have it severely now. I don't plan to try getting off of it for several months, I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery...

I had GERD prior to sleeving and was on Nexium. My surgeon fixed my hiatal hernia at the time of surgery. I sleeved on 2/2/2015 and he had me stop my Nexium on my 4/30/2015 visit. I have had no issues since then.

the Sleeve is known for making GERD worse. I only have it occasionally but I'm doing bypass but even then my doc said to take Prilosec 40mg for a few months after surgery.

I was told I would need for at least 6 months. I never had acid reflux before surgery, but now it's really bad. I'm sure I will need to continue it for a long time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
