I am currently at my highest weight of 415#. I have never been more scared in my life. I have finally had a financial opportunity to have gastric sleeve and could not be more excited about it. I'm 2 weeks away of my life forever being changed. Today I started my pre-op liquid diet. I'm nervous about it but know that I need to do it to better my health. I'm only 35 years old, and in the past year have developed multiple health issues. I am type 2 diabetic, I have hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, infertility and recently diagnosed with lymphedema due to my weight gain. I want all of these things to go away. I feel like I am at a really good place in my life to start these changes. My husband and I want to have a baby, you can't have a healthy pregnancy when you are this overweight. I'm hoping that others will hear my story and know that you are not alone, you just have to be willing to let others in.

Today is day #1 of my liquid diet. Any recommendations? ways to keep in interesting without getting bored eating the same things everyday?

:)

Good luck to you! I wish I had some words of wisdom on your liquid diet. I was fortunate enough NOT to have to do a 2 week liquid pre-op diet. My surgeon feels people struggle too much with that. I only had to keep my calories to under 1000 per day for 2 weeks. My last couple of days I had to drink more and eat less but that plan made it much easier for me.

I am so excited for you. You seem to be in the same position I am, where you just said enough is enough. I am learning it's not just about a lifestyle change, it's about an attitude change. You will do great.

Congratulations on your new beginning!! I start my liquid diet today too...well I started 2 days ago to give it a test run and so glad I did. What has helped me is planning what I will "drink" each day and I put an alarm on my phone to go off and tell me exactly what to drink and when. In between time I try and stay busy to keep my mind off food. I pray a lot and keep my goals and some inspirational scriptures on hand to keep me encouraged. I'm having bypass on May 27th and am very excited about my new beginning as well ????

It would have been nice to have Jenwiths plan, but I had to do 10 day liquid diet. The first three days are the worst as your tummy and taste buds have to get over feeling neglected. The head hunger is like having hamspsters in your head, just running around and around being obnoxious little crazy-makers. The other seven days weren't so bad.

Just stay busy and avoid the food Network and other cooking shows for a while. The commercials are enough to overlook without watching food porn.

Good luck with you journey!! I didn't have to do a two week liquid diet either. I only had to do two shakes a day and I could have a small meal every night. Looking forward to that got me thru it. I only had to do that for five days though.

Keep focusing on how much better you will feel once the weight starts dropping off. How much easier it will be to move around. Any good habits you can implement now will only help you down the road after surgery!!

Keep reading and posting on here, there is a wealth of great information and support!!!

I've been losing weight leading up to my 2 week liquid diet. I'm hoping my nutritionist relaxes the liquid phase a bit if I reach my pre-op weight goal.

If not I'll be trying to think lf ways to entertain my tongue. If you're allowed sugar free liquids you can make some popsicles.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. Today has been interesting, really fighting with my head today to tell me I am not hungry. I have been able to consume all of my liquids with no problems. I know that days 2 and 3 will be the worst so I am preparing. Im looking forward to hear everyone's stories and keeping myself on track

Liquid prediet...keep busy, do something, anything to keep your mind from thinking about it. I'm eleven days into mine and it's hard, tedious and still challenging. The first three days are awful but the hunger, cravings will subside. Try different flavored waters (Mio) for a little variety in between and I've found Popsicles are a true friend...they freeze your taste buds too! You can do this...it's hard but after surgery, your patterns will change and meals will become manageable again! ???? my sleeve date is Monday June 8 and I still can't believe it-good luck

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
