4 months out and weight gain

Recommended Posts

I am 4 months out and down 75 pounds. I am very happy with my progress. I weigh myself every morning (even though I probably shouldn't) and I have had a few stalls but not bad. I weighed myself Monday and skipped Tuesday. On Wednesday I was up 4 pounds when I weighed myself! I'm so confused! I am eating 700-900 calories a day. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I usually go to the gym 3 times a week sometimes less though depending on work.

Girl I'm 4 months out too. Surgery was on 12/2/14. I haven't lost any weight in a month. I'm about to lose my mind. I'm working out 3 to 4 days a week and still not jumping pounds.

So, TMI question, but is it your time of the month? That can often lead to not only additional Fluid, but also Fluid retention. Also I find that if I eat Soup, popcorn, or something extra salty, it has a lot of sodium which inevitably causes me to gain at least a pound or two the day after. Also, if I do a heavy lifting session, my muscles are swollen and I gain weight the next day purely from Water, as opposed to having actually gained any muscle weight.

This is why I weigh myself every single day because I know exactly where my weight should be and if for some reason I gain, I can immediately start on the path to fixing it. I also can look back (I have written my weight down everyday) and I can see that, ok I gained 3 pounds one day, but it was gone a few days later, or ooh that was a long stall but not nearly as long as I thought. Don't freak out over a weight gain if it only lasts a day or two- sometimes our bodies inexplicably retain Water and naturally process it out.

AvaFern, you and I must be related. I could have said exactly what you just said: salt and/or strength training. The aggravating part is, I gain gain it overnight, then it takes a week to lose it again. Then I have to get brutal about carbs to reset to weight I am happy with.

No it's not my time of the month. I try not to weigh during that time lol. I keep weighing and it's still up 4 pounds it's making me crazy! I'm sure it will go back down I'm just trying to figure out what it is.

It could be something as simple as a body reset. Your body is holding Water, or it's a full moon, sounds silly but you will retain water for any reason, muscle fatigue, injury, salt, change in temperature, just ride it out and you'll flush the excess in no time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
