So I am just over 2 weeks post op and have been walking every day. I feel fine walking and am able to go at a good speed. I was exercising a lot prior to surgery. My question is how soon can I start doing more than just walking. I would love to do a spin class and some weight training. I was just wondering about how long I should wait to do more than walk.

Check with your doctor. Some want folks to wait a few weeks so are okay with resuming ASAP. Either way use common sense regarding lifting heavy objects and listen to your body.

When I went to my 2-month f/u appointment, I was able to do more exercise. Absolutely NO stomach crunches or strengthening becasue of the surgery. They stated after 6 months, you can do more with your stomach. This is due to the fact that it is major surgery and gives time to heal 100%.

Walking is great anyway...plus with warmer weather we all weill be walking more :) :)

I was released for full exercise (but no heavy weight lifting) at 4 weeks. I was lucky that I only had 2 incisions from my surgery so not a whole lot that had to heal. I am still a little scared to do any ab workouts but may try that next week at my 2 month mark.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
