Sleeve date was March 24 from Canada

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Marnie I am 46 years old and just recently had my surgery. I was told I was getting the gastric bypass and have prepared extensively for that but during the surgery the surgeon due to scar tissue from previous abdominal surgeries decided to do the gastric sleeve. I was a bit surprised and taken back because I was preparing for the other operation but now I'm hearing I'm quite lucky and that the sleeve is a great option. I was concerned the weight-loss would be less however after everything I've read I'm more encouraged. I've lost a total of 20 pounds since starting the OPTi fast before the surgery so I'm feeling optimistic this will continue. Was wondering if anyone feels overwhelmed by the whole process because it feels like my day is spent trying to get all the Protein and liquids in. It's interesting reading other people have such different diets after surgery I am on full fluids for two weeks and then puréed foods for another two weeks. I am a social worker and work at a local high school, married with two children 16 and 12 supportive on seeing their mom getting healthy. My highest weight was 239 pounds. Even after surgery that's hard to see that weight in writing. I wish everyone a speedy recovery from surgery and a lifetime of health.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
