Wow, how far out are you? I'm 7 weeks and if I ate hakf that I'd be on the potty with my head in the trash basket sliming my arse off.

Thank you for your confession.

I did a no- no today. Hubby left his Ruby Red soda out and I snuck a gulp. Shame on me.

Why don't you join me on My Fitness Pal. I am CatKaren

I agree Tammy.

It's commonly referred to on here as "grazing". The sleeve stops us from eating a lot at once, but nothing stops us from eating a little all day long. Gotta stay strong!

Thanks for that enlightenment. I began to figure that out on my own so it's good to know what it's called and the obstruction it can cause. Thanks for sharing that and to the original poster for this topic!

Looks like others may learn from my mistake. I’m happy to hear that. It is definitely possible to eat all that in a day especially if you’re not getting your fluids. Like I said, if I had been pushing fluids, I wouldn’t have been able to. So be careful newbies!

For those that asked, I’m a little over 4 months out and down 80 pounds since 5 days preop.

I’ve considered going back to the very basics but I don’t think I would benefit too much from it. What I mean is after analyzing my daily intakes, calorie burns, and weight loss, I think I’ve found my sweet spot. I definitely stop losing if I get less than 1000 calories. But I also burn about 2-3K calories a day (not including gym workout). So unless I wanna lie around and watch TV, no can do on dropping the calorie count. I am training for the Warrior Dash in June (my first) so I need to keep building strength and work out as much as possible.

I did start today planning all my food in myfitnesspal (this keeps me well behaved) and I went to the gym last night.

Don’t want to encourage anyone to follow in these footsteps, but the scale did move. Could be because of the increased intake, or it could be because of the workout. Who knows? It’s not an experiment I’m willing to try again. I am going to take the numbers I’ve been figuring out and apply them for a week to see what happens. Looks like I lose best when I get 1000-1100 calories, <75g Carbs a day, >75g Protein, and less than 60g Fat. I think if I push those numbers to <60 carbs, >85 Protein, and <50 fat, I’ll see even more results so that’s my goal for the week. I know for some people at 4 months post op these numbers seem high, but they seem to be my sweet spot where I lose and feel good.

Thanks everybody for the encouragement and tough love I needed to hear. It can happen to anyone so be vigilant.

It happens. In maintenance now, I have days where I feel like I've eaten everything in sight, (I'm OVER calories by around 500-700), followed by days, I'm right on track or a bit under. Then I weigh in and I'm ALWAYS amazed when I don't gain weight that week. Or occasionally I do gain a bit and that's motivation to reel myself back in. The next week I always recover. Success is about good HABITS and balance. You can succeed with an off DAY here and there, as long as you don't let it turn into an off WEEK or MONTH.

Before I vent with my post, know that I am fully accepting responsibility for my actions, and even posting this is a way for me to own up to that. I do not expect you to be "nice" or "polite" about any response you may feel like writing. Feel free to give me every low-down, gritty detail of whatever your opinion may be about this. I'm a big girl (still) I can handle it.

For whatever reason, maybe cause I'm PMS'ing, I ended up binging on calories & carbs yesterday. I saw it happen as I put everything I ate into myfitnesspal and I slyly justified every bit of it in my head one way or another. Here's what I ate yesterday.

Sugar loaded coffee Creamer - 147 cals / 14 carbs

Prune juice - 85 cals / 22 carbs

pizza - ate one slice at 3 different times during the day. - 169 cals / 6 carbs

Turkey sandwich on a whole wheat sandwich thin with provolone cheese, yellow mustard, and light Dukes mayo - 295 cals / 25 carbs

Homemade meatloaf - 291 cals / 18 carbs

ketchup - 40 cals / 10 carbs

Larabar cashew cookie mini - 100 cals / 10 carbs

Red delicious apple - 22 cals / 6 carbs

Peanut Butter with that apple - 190 cals / 8 carbs

Total for the day - 1434 calories, 123g carbs, 63g fat, and only 74g protein!!!

What a horrible day. Thankfully, that is the only time I have binged like that since surgery but it's no excuse. PMS isn't an excuse either. THERE IS NO EXCUSE!

Back on the wagon today. Looking at everything I ate, I don't think I ate "unhealthy" except for the pizza. But it's still too much for where I'm at post op. And no, I did not get my fluids in. If I had pushed fluids like I was supposed to, I wouldn't have had time to eat all that food.

On top of that, the day before I only ate 750 calories and 75 g Protein. I had been on a losing streak until this day. I always slump when I don't get enough calories. So it was a bad weekend all around.

But, like I said, I'm back on track today. I have no one to blame but myself. Heading to the gym tonight for some intense cardio then home to kick my butt on my total gym.

Ok, there it is. My binge confession.

You know what? WLS never said it'd make us super-human and infallible. It simply promised to give us a tool and support on our Quest to get healthy.

Also, you should not be ashamed of owning up to mistakes. I, for one, admire your willingness to be human! So many of us are so hard on ourselves particularly because of our weight and self-image. Isn't a relief to just be human?

I have been teetering in the low 190s since Jan and I have worked very hard to not beat myself up over a stall. I do what I can. Have I eaten things I shouldn't? Yup. But I am not going to obsess over that. You shouldn't either. I realize this can be easier said than done but it's well worth the effort.

Are you in a better place now than prior to surgery? Are you allowing yourself to make mistakes? It's a-ok. Your post says to me that you are very much on the right track because you are owning your behavior and that right there is the #1 tool to happiness.

Keep on trucking! You got this! :D

Yesterday I was so damn hungry I cleared 1700!!!!! But looking back at the past 2 months I have been under-eating because of some serious stress management issues stemming from work. So it makes sense that it caught up to me. I eat all day because I lift and exercise like a fiend and if I don't make myself eat, I will get famished and we know we can't do that with a sleeve. But yesterday I ate some calorie heavy garbage during a panic attack. Not going to stress. Just going to work to be mindful. Beating myself up my entire life is why I was so overweight. Not going down that path any more.

Best wishes to you and everyone! Salud!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
