Protein Shots

I am about 19 days pre op. My surgeon suggested that I get some Protein shots to try for post op. I am supposed to drink one a day. I have tried to flavors of the New whey Protein Shots, the watermellon and the grape and they are both HORRIBLE. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

None of them are great tasting, but I can handle the fruit punch one. But since you can't drink a lot at once after surgery, those Protein shots get the Protein needed down. I also drank the Muscle Milk Pro Series 40 -- they are 40g protein in 14 oz. and the flavors are awesome. Mint Choc is my fave!

I'm surprised your surgeon would recommend them. It's absurd to drink 42 grams of Protein in a tiny serving when your body can't possibly absorb that much protein at one time.

I take those too. I hate the taste but it really beats drinking the other crud. @@JamieLogical is absolutely corrent. You can't absorb 42g of Protein at once. According to some research I read you can only absorb about 15-10 grams an hr. So with those I drink half in the morning, half at night. To help with the taste I plug my nose and drink fast. If you come up with something else I'd be interested

Thanks guys! Jamie, the surgeon suggested that we get at least one of those down in a 24 hour period, not drinking it all at once, but gradually during the course of the day. I will have to try the fruit punch.

OH another thing - I found that they taste better -- well, not better, but I'm able to get them down when they are cold. When room temp, they all remind me of bad cold medicine!!
