Who said tuna was a soft food ?

Recommended Posts

I had tuna today for the first time.. I am almost 4 weeks post op and on soft foods ... Thought I would try tuna... It literally got stuck going down and I was in so much pain I could even finish eating ... Even after chewing it... It just didn't go down correctly. What is that about... Having trouble with ideas for lunch ... I have been taking egg salad and that has been great but I needed to change it up. Feeling like I don't even want to eat. Alyce

I'm only 3 weeks post op, but I was supposed to be able to start eating tuna last Thursday. I've tried twice and it's been a chore both times. Even mixed with mayo, it's soooooo dry and since we can't drink while eating, it's tough to get down.

try some chicken salad. I find it goes down well - with some light mayo.< /p>

I was OK with tuna, just don't enjoy it often. I have to be in the mood for it.

The only meat I could tolerate for the first couple weeks of "soft foods" was Oscar Mayer Carving Board smoked turkey. Canned tuna felt like eating bits of rubber.

I have heard of some people using a blender or food processor to chop up the tuna or chicken a bit before mixing with mayo and eating. Makes it easier to break down in the stomach or something. I have not tried this yet.

you just may not be ready for it yet. I can eat tuna but i cant eat ground beef, does the same thing that tuna does to you. Remember it takes 6 weeks for your stomach to heal, you just may not be ready for it yet!

My mom always made tuna in the blender when I was a kid...it was like a tuna spread. We loved it that way.

Maybe use thin cucumber slices to scoop the tuna spread if you can have them.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
