No restriction all of a sudden....!

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

I had lap band surgery 21st June this year so not that long ago, I have 6cc in at the moment after 2 fills and had quite a high restriction. All of a sudden I feel nothing....! to late to call my surgeons office should I be worried? has this happened to anyone before?
I have looked online and looked a symptoms of a slip but dose not quite fit, I am worried my band has unbuckled or I have sprung a leak somewhere?

please if you have any info let me know, thanks

catfish87 had a similar experience. Your band could have slipped, unbuckled or lost it's Fluid. Or, are you consuming lots of slider foods?

Don't know if this is at all like your current issue....I've had episodes where there seemed to be absolutely NO Band at all....yet my 'hunger' level and interest in eating very much --compared to preOp levels---was impressively minimal.

Personally I've had much more satisfaction attending to the symptoms of 'hunger' and 'satiety' than 'restriction'.

IMHO the notion of 'restriction' or sensations thereof is over hyped. But that's just my opinion.

Pay attention to your own symptoms, yet without pain or other sign, and ability to eat in a 'post Band manner' without issue, would mean to me, that there's nothing of concern. YMMV.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
