I am a 49 year old man that was recently sleeved at Chesapeake General hospital in Virginia on 12/17/12. The surgeon was Robert Chastanet. Everything went well during the surgery. Hospital, surgeon and nurses were all first rate. I am very happy that I got it done here. I am 6 days after surgery and still on a liquid diet. Still feeling a little pain when coughing or bending over. But overall it is working out great. I look forward to the forum and losing weight.

That's great! It sounds like you are recovering well. It's 100% normal to feel discomfort in bending over, you just had major surgery! I hope you continue to have a speedy recovery and head over to the losers bench soon!

He was great. He is very involved in the entire process and constantly checking up on you.

The other doctor (Yancy) left the area for some reason recently. So I am glad that I didn't plan on using him and find out at the last minute that my dr. is leaving and have to start over.

I went to a support group meeting and a person there was supposed to schedule her surgery that week and found out he was no longer doing surgery after working with him for six months.

I am also glad I picked Dr. Chastanet. He is probably one of the nicest and caring doctors I have ever met.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
