Puree Stage - Recipe/ideas

The cauliflower recipe sounds fantastic! Can I ask if you use fresh shredded Parmesan or the powder stuff in the Pasta aisle?

I LOVE to cook and am just wrapping up the pureed stage off my diet. Here are some of my favorite concoctions - enjoy!

Egg salad - couple eggs' date=' 1 tsp of mayo, 1/2 tsp of spicy brown mustard, salt & pepper - puree until smooth

Buffalo chicken - can of chicken, 1 tbsp blue cheese crumbles, 2 tbsp ranch dressing, 1 tsp. of buffalo sauce, salt & pepper - puree until smooth - MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!

Squash casserole - 1 can of squash with vidalia onion, 2 tbsp of cream cheese, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, salt & pepper, 1 tsp margarine/butter, 1 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese - puree until smooth, pour into dish and microwave for 90 seconds or until heated through and bubbly

Pintos and cheese - 1 can of Pintos with onion - puree until smooth, pour into dish and cover with 2 tbsp. of shredded cheddar cheese - microwave for 90 seconds or until heated through and bubbly - stir well to combine the cheese - optional: add a bit of enchilada sauce if you are looking for more flavor.

Lemon Ricotta Creme

Take one 15 oz. container of part skim ricotta cheese, add the zest of one lemon, juice of half the lemon, 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 4 packets of splenda - puree until smooth - AWESOME!!!!

You can do variations on this should you choose - substitue orange zest and 1 tbsp. of orange juice with orange extract or keep vanilla extract for a dreamsicle taste. chocolate ricotta creme is easy too by substituting 2 tbsp. cocoa powder instead of zest and juice, same vanilla extract and splenda to sweeten.

Perfect sweet tooth item instead of the same old pudding and/or jell-o and it has a high concentration of Protein due to the ricotta cheese. Enjoy!

Parmesan Garlic Cauliflower (tastes a lot like mashed potatoes, but very low carb!)

1 bag of frozen cauliflower florets

1 tsp butter/margarine

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup of parmesan cheese

1/4 cup of milk

Blend until smooth, pour into a casserole dish and top with another 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese and microwave for 90 seconds - enjoy![/quote']

It sounds crazy but I was more stressed about the puréed phase than anything I have went through! You are my angel today. Thank you, thank you!

Has anyone had any issues with the buffalo chicken and spiciness? I really wanna try this on my pureed foods phase, sounds absolutely amazing, again, that may be the pre op diet talking.

No trouble here with the spiciness if the buffalo recipe. I looked forward to eating something a bit spicy and flavorful! I was a bit unsure, as you, with my first few bites. But no problems so far. I've been putting Tabasco on my morning egg and Sriracchi (sp?) on my refried beans! Love it! So glad my new little stomach still likes the spice!

How many weeks post op do you suggest waiting before starting this stage? I did not get good direction from from my Dr.

These all sound good? Any more veg ones OR high Protein ones! I'm gonna start this soon and I'm concerned to have food that does not have protein- feels like empty cals for me-- oh and low carb would be great too!! Thank you

How many weeks post op do you suggest waiting before starting this stage? I did not get good direction from from my Dr.

I was advised 2 weeks post op liquids only then 2 weeks purée foods only - after this I could try normal foods remembering to chew chew - I would not try a steak straight away!

I am in Australia and even here different surgeons have different guidelines but this is the general one - I would still go back to your surgeon and check as he/she should have advised you what to do post op

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

      Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
