Hello all! Tuesday I am 3 weeks out and I can finally move from Clear Liquids to mushy foods. Can you all give me some of your favorite mushy foods so I can make a list for the grocery store? I walked into the store a few days ago for SF Popsicles and was so overwhelmed. So please help:)!!!

hi stacy

i never did the mushy stage - isn't that the one where you put food like chicken or whatever into the blender for a minute - yeach - couldn't even attempt that, just the thought...yeach

was never good on which stage etc. i "think" soft foods were next - cottage cheese, yogurt, - just wanted to give you a for instance, starting help - hoping someone will jump on the bandwagon and give more and possibly better advice,

good luck

kathy

I don't plan on blending - ill chew a lot. Unless that's an issue.

I said I wouldn't blend either but then realized that some things are hard to chew properly. For example, my husband just grilled some filet mignon, medium rare. I took a chunk of it and zapped it through my Ninja. Perfect!

Cottage cheese was a good start for a mushy. White fish was easy on me as was just about all forms of cheese. Also, chili was easy on me- I know a lot of others have a hard time with chop meat but for me I was okay.

I plan on ordering a lot of Miso Soup from the Japaneese grocery and adding lots of extra tofu! Protein packed! Also try endamame for a shot of protein and Fiber.< /p>

Cottage cheese, any cheese really, canned chili if you like it some of them have 0 carbs and up to 25-30g of Protein per serving, Subway tuna salad (it's a pureed consistency), really soft baked potatoes (Wendy's), yogurt, pudding, refried Beans (I had some from a local Mexican restaurant that were delicious!) I couldnt handle the kind out of a can they were too thick and too nasty when watered down. Happy shopping!

Anyways back to subject - i make a mean chili, lots of kidney Beans. Don't kidney beans have lots of Protein?

refried Beans

clam chowder

creamy low fat Soups

corned beef hash

salmon fillets

crab meat

canned tuna/chicken

sauce/broth mixes

sugar free popsicles

Protein powder

fat free cream cheese/ricotta cheese/ cottage cheese

all natural Peanut Butter

You are going to be set for, like, two years! lol

I could hardly eat anything, so in my Quest to be prepared, I completely overbought.

Lol yeah I will probably be set for a while but I like having variety, I hate the thought of forcing myself to eat the same things everyday I would go insane.

It occured to me the other night as I was having my "Last Supper" before starting my 2 week liquid diet that string mozzarella cheese melted with spaghetti sauce over it might bea real tasty substitute for pizza and lasagna when I hit the mushy stage. Anyone ever thought of this before?

Look in the food forum and there is a recipe for the ricotta bake that's really good.

What about cooked penne Pasta with red sauce in the blender? Is that part of a mushy stage?

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
