Thank you so much for that MacMadame! I am struggling with my sleeve right now (granted, I just hit my first stall :sad0: ) I think I've been doing everything right but this stall makes me feel like I'm doing everything wrong! Not only did I stall, but I gained a pound! I wanted find out from people who "failed" and make sure I'm not on the same path. I am only a little over 3 weeks out and I don't think I have any regrets but my emotions are all out of whack because of this stall! Any advice?

What you are going through right now is very typical. Many VSG'ers hit a stall around 3-4 weeks. Sometimes it can last just a few days or it could last several weeks. The important thing to do is to continue to do what you know you are supposed to. Make good food choices, get your H2O in, concentrate on your Protein...you will see the stall break. You aren't failing! It's normal for your body to adjust & for you to hit a stall. But it will end & you will start to lose again.

Please don't sweat gaining a pound! It's probably just Water weight. When I eat canned salmon, I gain several lbs overnight! It happened today! If I lay off the salt, it goes away fast. Try weighing less often...maybe once a week.

Forward HO!

I agree with this. Jage, the first 3 weeks or so your weight may fluctuate quite a bit before settling down to showing what you've actually lost. Don't get discouraged!

What the others have said is so true. Your body is going through so many changes right now, that things are going to fluctuate for a while. Make sure you are taking measurements as well. It may not be showing a difference on the scale, but you still may be losing inches.

Suppose this is the kind of question that can go any which way. I did the same thing with the band - I read everything I could about it even the bad stuff. Of course I never thought I would have issues. Since I have the band and at this time there's no possiblity of going to a sleeve I'm just trying to make the band work. I saw my Dr. and he gave me a very aggressive fill, the best I've ever had. So far so good!

Thanks for your response!

Hi JageK (Jennifer) -

I'm getting sleeved Sept. 29th with Dr. Aceves. I have been (pretty) quietly watching this board for all of the different emotions that I see people go through, both pre and post op. Before I saw that you were three weeks out, I thought to myself (from reading the other posts) that if this is your first stall you must be about three weeks out. It seems to be very common, so don't feel like you are a failure - seems to me that you are on the successful track now as many of those very successful sleevesters out here seem to hit that same stall and I am expecting it also mid October:glare:....but I know it will pass and some last longer than others.

Good Luck!

Trudy :lol0:

Just keep doing everything right, and that scale will move soon. I was in the same position just 2 weeks ago...stalled...and I gained 5 lbs! Crazy! I know exactly how this stall can mess with your mind and emotions. But, my dietician helped put it in perspective. My surgeon considers it normal if his patients lose 15% of their excess weight in the first 60 days. At 3 weeks out, I had lost 11% already. So, as frustrating as it all was, I was actually ahead of the curve. And now I'm at 4 1/2 weeks, and the scale is moving in a big way.

According to your ticker, you've already lost 21% of YOUR excess weight!!! You're doing fantastic! But right now, your body is going "hey, wait just a darn minute! What just happened here?" And in a few more days, it'll settle in to the new routine and the scale will move again. Patience, Grasshopper! :lol0:

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
