I know for a fact that the TT is going to be the first thing I am going to want to have done - heck, I've been wanting that done for several years; however, was going to wait until I lost my weight ... well here I am several years later and guess what? No TT and not enough lost weight. I will probably need the boob job too as I've wanted a perk job and once I lose the weight, since my boobs always seem to be where I lose first, I will probably need not only a perk job but implants as well. I'm going to see if the PS that I hope to use in LV will be able to write it in such a way that insurance will help cover the cost -- they won't cover any WLS and I don't know if they will consider this due to WLS and deny it as well. If so, I will check out the doctor in Mexicali.

There was a gal that left Mexicali with us yesterday morning who had had a TT and boob lift/implants several months ago and she said her implants were something called Gummy implants -- not yet available in the US ... she said they feel very real and they certainly looked real ... I'm sure a Bob would have been willing to test them himself if he hadn't been sitting in the back of the van...LOL

I won't need to do anything to my arms except weight resistance, I am lucky in that my arms have never really carried much fat ... it's mostly all in my tummy and my inner thighs ... built in pillows is what I call them... LOL

(If this is a duplicate post, I apologize -- I thought I had posted something along these lines on this thread; however, nothing shows up ... I'm so ditzy today I probably forgot to hit the right button):)

I carry 80% of my weight in my abdomen so I know a pannus removal and TT will have to be done, but I'm going to wait until after we're done making babies. . .

I'm wondering if anyone had a complete change to their body shape?

I'm really round around the middle, big boobs, a heart shaped flat butt, and my legs are nicely shaped. I'm paranoid about ending up "pear" shaped. I don't want to lose my boobs completely. My mom is 100% pear shaped, little boobs, big butt and hips, smaller waist. She had LapBand in Nov 2007, and lost 75-78lbs, but was always pear shaped. So, she's just smaller pear shaped now.

So, has anyone's body shape changed? ? ?

I got my waist back. So I'm back to being more of an hourglass. (But with some pear in there too.)

the first time i lost all my weight i had my breast lifted. it was not a complete waist i had fun while it lasted. this time around the first thing i am going to do is my arms and back. i don't have that much fat on my tummy it is the first place i lose on so it is easy to hide the skin so it will be second. then i will do my breasts again. after that i will do my thighs, my thighs are always the biggest part of me. if i have the money at the end of it all i am going to buy myself a butt. lol i am black and all my white friends have bigger butts than me..ha. so not fair. so hopefully i have some fat left some where on me to take out and put back there because i dont want implants... i am not sure what my insurance will cover but if anything i will use the extra from my student loans. i was also thinking of donating the skin for burn victoms.

Hi. Just stopped by to say Hi and read over the link. As for me I would rather have my arms, back fat and breast done. If I get my tummy done or not is not a big issue. I have had the old fashioned C Section scar for almost 30 years now so its like a part of me. True its more pronounced now. Yes I would also love to have my thighs done. They have always been big. To get rid of the stretch marks and cottage cheese look would be wonderful and to have something to fill out shirts would be the realization of a childhood dream come true. LOL, wink:tongue_smilie:

I've noticed even with "only" 26 lbs. gone my back bacon is a lot less noticeable and thankfully my arms have never gotten fat. I believe I will be able to tone that up with exercise. I will need a TT for sure, but I have needed one for years and once I get the fat gone, then there will be lots of loose skin there. And I am sure I am going to need a boob job -- I always used to say all I needed was a perk job; however, when I get all the weight off that I want to lose, the girls may need more than just "perked":biggrin0:.

I am definitely going to get the girls lifted. They are about a 38 long right now.

OMG you're too funny ... Bob is offering to "measure" to see if they really are a 38 Long.

I have actually heard of someone having implants in the booty to give it more lift and shape. I couldn't imagine having it done, but hey, to each his own. I have been saying for years that I want the girls lifted, but doubt I will be able to afford it. I am documenting the rashes I am getting from the pannus and am hoping to get the removal of it covered by insurance once I reach goal.

Michelle, every time I get a rash or anything else, I go to the doctor. That way I make sure that it is documented in my medical record that I am having ongoing problems with this. I have also had the doctor take photos and attach it to my record.

Good to know Susan. I have developed a rash the past few days -- have an appt. with my doctor I think this week so will be sure to have him document it and take a photo.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
