    I stayed on my XR dosage after surgery and it was fine. After the first few days you should be able to take them no issue.

    I went through the surgery by myself. The few people I told are not particularly supportive. Does the hospital by you have a support program? Mine has been very helpful. ObesityHelp is a great site if you want good advice.

    My favorite is #AskDrA with Dr Alvarez. He has a series of short clips that answer any possible question you have about vsg. It was a huge help to me when I would wake up in the middle of the night and wonder about something. You can ask him questions and he's on snap chat too.

    Feeling frustrated

    This is your body adjusting to your new lower weight. You'll lose, then stall, continuously. Your metabolism needs to regulate itself. I know it's super frustrating but it really is the trend over time that will matter so don't get hung up on the week to week and derail your good progress.

    Popcorn 🍿

    No food is out forever. Early on the kernels can get stuck in your new staple lines so don't try it. After that it's up to you. It has no nutritional value and is high in carbs. And it it's airy so you can eat a lot without feeling full. As my doctor said, ' you know farmers use corn to fatten up the livestock, right?' I have a handful now and then (I'm a year out) but I think of that whenever I do. It's not a healthy snack in spite of what the popcorn marketers will tell you. It's slider food.
  6. Many of us have been there. Soda was so hard for me to give up. This whole process is very hard because we don't get brain surgery to go with our stomachs. You might want to talk to a therapist because they really can help with the food relationship.

    Gained Weight when starting Solid Foods?

    Unfortunately stalls are common. I did not gain weight but would plateau, then lose, repeat. As long as you stick to your eating plan, you'll be ok and will continue to lose. It's the long term trend that matters.

    1000 cal/day 2 weeks out

    Yes that is a lot 2 weeks after surgery. I was at 400 calories for the first 6 weeks. But it depends on how much you have to lose and what your bmr is. 1200 calories is maintenance for me and I won't lose eating that much. My program encourages beans in small quantities. Make sure to chew well even the Refried and soft beans to help with gas. My surgeon said not to eat nuts just because they're so high in calories for the quantity. You won't feel much of the restriction yet but don't worry. You'll feel it when you eat solid protein. Good luck on your journey.

    Liquid diet.... can I ?????

    Caffeine is a diuretic so don't drink it unless your getting your other liquids in. It can't count as part of your liquids. Decaf only the first month is to lessen the risk of an ulcer. Note decaf still has some caffeine.
  10. I know that's frustrating but it's pretty normal to stall in weeks 2-4 as your body adjusts to your new plan. Don't worry about 1 or 2 lb. fluctuations. Your overall trend over time is what will matter in the end. If you're also on ObesityHelp, search for 2 week stall and you'll see the many others who've been through it. My program said they're going to start telling people this before surgery just because they get so many calls on it. You'll get below 300. Just stick to the plan and wait it out.

    Hangry

    Remember as you burn fat, stored hormones can get released so it's not uncommon to feel moody, or even cranky, the first couple of months. You really don't need vitamins the first few weeks. Focus on your liquids - that's hard enough. Stay on plan and it gets better with time. It will be worth it when the pounds are falling off. Hang in there!
  12. I had it done last year in my 50s and had no issues at all. No pain. Back to work in 5 days. (I work from home). I was tired for the first month but, other than that, It was physically not hard. As others have said, it was a good thing for me to do and I only wish I'd done it sooner.

    vitamins? For how long?

    I have BC/BS. They cover my vitamins. I had the doctor write a note that they are necessary due to WLS. They write a new note at the start of the year. Just putting it out there for anyone struggling with the cost. Also curious which programs recommend Flintstones? Mine, and some others, specifically say not to take those.

  15. I didn't feel restriction until I started eating dense protein. But I also wasn't hungry the first few weeks. Now a year out, I do better with dense food because I can eat way more slider foods than I need to.
