    Struggle

Well for me things got so much better in weeks 7 and 8 once I started back on real nonmushy food. I had more energy and the bathroom got back to my normal routine. I had very little nausea post op, and as I tried new foods that did happen a few times when I tried something I wasn't ready for. Now, over 15 months out I don't have any food restrictions really. The pills...well, I still do watch how big my pills are. I cut them in half if I can. I take krill oil since the fish oil pills are so large. It will get better. Popcorn safe to eat?

Popcorn...it goes down just fine and has since about 6 months post op. It is so easy to overeat that I try to avoid. I haven't said I will never eat popcorn again...but it isn't something I can use as a regular snack. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    I need help

It hasn't been as fast for me as I thought it would be. But, when I'm on plan the scale keeps moving down. When l get off track it stops going down or gets incredibly s...l...o...w. So, I know it is me and what I eat. Gastric sleeve stats are losing 60% of excess weight at 2 years post op. For me that is about 137 lbs. Well at 15 months I'm at 128lbs. So, I will for sure beat that 60 % figure. I didn't get to almost 400 lbs in one year. I'm not going to lose all my weight in one year either. Find success in how you feel better walking around without that extra weight on. If you forgot, go to the gym and try picking up a 60lb barbell and walk around for a bit. It is heavy! Pick one place and start making those changes...are you getting 60 or more oz of protein? Are you taking your vitamins? Then add another good thing in next week and the week after. You can get back to the zone. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. In the early stages it isn't easy to tell what is hunger and what is full. The advice is to go slow so that you can keep it all down. If you can tolerate more liquids I agree with the others that you are fine. As you expand into other foods you will feel a new type of full. There will be months of learning and changes. 5. With any procedure over time it is more about food decisions than the actual procedure. You can gain weight back after any of them. For me logging my food always helps me when I feel off track. As pointed out by others the alcohol can add a lot of extra calories. It sounds like you are pushing yourself to eat more...if you are eating as much as your friends and cramping then you aren't listening to your body signals. If it were me, I would go back to the beginning. Do a couple of days of liquids. Then go back to the fundamentals of 60g of protein and 60 oz of water. Protein first. No liquids 30 min. before, during, or after meal. No alcohol. Reaquaint yourself with the fundamentals and then see where you are. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. You did the right thing going back to your Dr. I'm 8 months post op. I workout with trainer 3 times a week. I try to keep my carbs around 100g on gym days. Otherwise my goal is more like 60g. My key is still to keep to the protein first. I add in starchy veggies on gym days so that I don't start back down the path of bread and rice which I can easily over eat. Also stay hydrated. As I moved back into more and intense workouts I found that I needed to make sure I had my 60 oz of water during the day before my workouts (we do evenings). How much protein?

My team (surgeon and nut) say no more than 1 protein shake per day once you get out about 3 months. I look at it as I need to eat this way the rest of my life. So having a protein shake for breakfast is often my go to and I'd be happy with that for the foreseeable future. I like my shakes. I do chocolate premier protein plain or with some pb2 powder for on cup shake. I do vanilla with pb2 powder for more pure pb taste. I don't have a shake everyday, but probably have 4 to 5 per week. Lately they have become my go to dinner when I do night workouts at gym. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Unable to tolerate meat!?!?

I had sleeve and struggled with chicken for first couple of months. By month 3 that seemed to go away. Fruits with skin also gave me problems in the first couple of months. Since month 6 I haven't found any foods off limit. So, be patient and keep trying. Have you pureed the meat? Ground chicken, turkey or beef? Tuna was an easy one for me from the beginning. Other options: pb2 powder. It doesn't have the same fat content as peanut butter. Lentils are a fave. Look into black beans and lima beans too. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    6 month weight loss program?

My insurance accepted my program JumpstartMD. They required medical supervised and I met with a PA twice a month. Insurance even covered the program (out of network but still reimbursed me 75%). They would also accept a nutritionist visit. My surgeons office was very helpful with that process. I would run this through the surgeons insurance coordinator. 10. My mother spent the first couple of months asking me over and over if I was sure and didn't I want to try and do it on my own. She never directly came out and said she thought it was a bad idea, but that was sure the message. It wasn't until a month or so before surgery that she switched on me. I never asked why but she became very supportive. I agree that often it is fear behind the lack of support. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

Are You tubers steering me wrong?

The store has treated me well. I recently had something off with a product and they gave me credit. I would not hesitate to order through the bariatricpal store. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Worried about leakages.

I'm a planner too. It does comfort me. I had the sleeve. I had a swallow test the morning after my surgery. No problems so I was allowed to try my first protein shake. For me I had total faith in my surgeon and her outcomes. So if you have faith in your surgeon then focus on that. So, if your surgeon doesn't find that test necessary, confirm what they do use or look for so that you can help identify any symptoms and communicate with the staff. Ask them for instructions about what you should do if you have concerns...what number to call etc... Then trust in your preparations. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

  14. I agree with the others on the blood pressure. That is what got me. Turns out I "had" to go off my bp meds. No longer needed them. [emoji2] Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. This is perfect timing for me. I just hit 6 months and see my Dr this week. I've been traveling a bunch, which means eating out. It was easy to see some old habits creep in. Back to tracking everything...thats always my best tool. Thank you for sharing...feels good to know I'm not alone. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    5 Confessions (Join In)

    1. I confess I use straws. 2. I confess I had a Snickers and...i didn't like it. So not satisfying. 3. I confess that I would often weigh myself twice a day and obsess over the numbers. 4. I confess that I tried some rice. My fave Mexican rice. I ate a few bites after having my fajita meat first. I would have previoiusly eaten the entire serving of rice before anything else. 5. I get jealous reading some of the other posts with people losing weight faster than I am. I did well on my own losing weight but always had problems keeping it off. I'm in this for the long haul but sometimes it is hard to focus on my journey and not compare it to others. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I had minimal pain post surgery. Took drugs for just a couple of days. I didn't begin to feel normal until week 6 when I started eating real food again. Went back to gym week 7. Try different types of water...flavored, coconut, etc... just no carbonation. As suggested by sqky...try different temps...hot, cold, room temp. Everyone is different and key is to find what works for you. Congratulations...and keep coming back for support. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. I started out at a 46J cup. I'm now down 100 lbs and wearing a 40K. That's right...i got a fitting because bras weren't fitting. The cup size gets slightly smaller as the band size gets smaller...so my breasts haven't really gone down much...mostly stayed the same. But with the smaller band size I need the larger cup to keep it closer to my original J. I am looking forward to a reduction and lift. Finding clothes, bras, bathing suits, sports bras to fit me is a dream that will hopefully come true. I do get back, neck, and shoulder pains. I have divets in my shoulders from the straps. I've even lost circulation in my arms/hands because the straps were too tight. I would talk to a doctor and ask to talk with some former patients. Check out before and after pics. When I see those pics I feel a sense of relief...and I want that myself. Good luck and congrats on all your success. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stuck at weight

Just about everyone on here has had a stall. There are lots of different things to try, but sometimes we just have to be patient. I struggled with obsessing about my weight loss numbers in the first three months. Then I started to relax a bit. Now at 6 months post op I don't get flustered when my numbers stall. Things to try...more water, more protein, more fat, more calories, switch breakfast and dinner, change from cardio to weights or vice versa. Try one and see what happens. I've found my numbers freeze or crawl for 2 weeks just before my menstrual cycle and then once it starts...whoosh weight comes off quickly Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. You are a champ. Doing great! I found the first couple of days tough. I got headaches which is supposed to be from my body releasing toxins in the fat. By day 3 or 4 they were gone. But I was going to the bathroom so much that I thought I had a uti. My doctor did a urine test and it was clean...but with lots of ketones. She theorized that my bladder was inflamed from all of the extra urination. By day 7 I was getting very tired. My energy was getting lower and I needed a nap to get through the day. That last week was a blur. Getting everything ready and being excited, I don't remember being hungry. I did not have to do the vanilla anchovy shakes...thankfully...they sound awful. I'm proud for you! Keep us updated on your progress. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I hope the full face mask is helping. I had those same issues with the nasal only masks. I'm happy with my full face mask. I use the tv or iPod to provide some white noise to help me fall asleep instead of obsessing about the noise my breathing makes. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I was sleeved 5 months ago. My foods are evolving. I can eat most foods without issue. Sandwich meat and hot dogs are an exception as they still upset my sleeve. I can eat steak, bread (I may have an open faced burger once a week), grapes, raisins. I tried a couple of bites of rice...no problems. Haven't tried pasta. I eat 3 to 4 ounces at a meal. In the beginning I struggled to finish the 2.7 oz package of tuna. Now, I can eat the tuna pack and some veggies. I can go out with friends or family to eat. I will split an item or take some home. I do best when I eat at home/make lunch for work. I measure and know my volume, macros, and limit my salt. You can also allow yourself to basically snack all day. So, there are ways to get around the reductions. You have to be willing to put in the time and effort to make changes and decisions to help with the long haul. Kettlebell

I use kettlebells at the gym. You can do a number of exercises with them. Start with low weight and really pay attention to form to minimize risk of injury. The bands are also surprisingly effective and easy to use at home or when traveling. Be sure to hydrate and have a protein meal within 30 minutes of finishing workout to help your body repair the muscles. Check out you tube for video options to keep things changing/interesting. Good luck. Let us know how it goes. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Morning Vs Evening

I workout in evenings. I don't get energized by the workouts so when I do a morning workout I'm tired the whole day. Workout in evening...have dinner...shower and put on pjs! Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
