  1. So... personal question. Is there anyone else that has the Mirena and after surgery your menstrual cycle decided to go haywire? Had my cycle before surgery. Ended day of surgery. 2 days later it's back and has been non stop ever since. That was 3 weeks ago. If it were just spotting... I wouldn't mind too much. I was used to that. But this is full force. I know my estrogen is probably playing a part in it... but I am getting very tired of this. Lol. I had just started having normal monthly cycles 6 months ago with Mirena so I was very happy to be done with the daily bleeding. I don't think my body liked it too much for a couple years. Now I feel good enough for some "fun" with my husband... but my body is not allowing it! Today is the first day I've had cramping with it... but I just wish it would go away.
  2. I had an ultrasound done last week to check my gallbladder. My provider's office called me today to schedule an appointment to come in to discuss the results but couldn't discuss them with me over the phone so I called the imaging center and they sent me the ultrasound report. In it it showed that I have moderate to large amount of sludge in the gallbladder and also that I have a "hyperechoic mass involving the left lobe of the liver" and recommended a CT for further visualization. My surgeon's office told me there was no rush in me coming in to discuss the results so that makes me feel a little better... but I wanted to know if there was anyone else that had had this show up on an ultrasound after the surgery. They didn't mention a mass after surgery so I'm assuming it wasn't there then. part of me wonders if it is from the liver retractor.
  3. Thanks. I will ask when I see him. The scheduler said it'd be a pre op so I think he is wanting to just go ahead and remove it. I will have to wait a little while though cause I've only been back to work 3 weeks.
  4. Hopefully the surgery will eventually cause me to be one of the lucky ones that have no periods with the Mirena. As of right now, my Gyn put me on am Estrogen patch twice weekly for three months to stop the bleeding and hopefully keep it under control. So far only a little spotting since 2 days after putting my first patch on

    HOP INTO SPRING CHALLENGE!!

    Weigh in 5/30-- 255.6
  6. My body didn't agree with the mirena. I bled daily for 2.5 years after getting it. I finding just starting getting normal cycles 6 months ago. Only reason I didn't get it removed is we definitely weren't ready for another baby. So to have it come back daily sucks! I had planned on hormones being messed up during the weight loss but I didn't think it'd be this bad. It's almost like as my uterus is trying to build the lining back up, my body just won't let it and it's constantly shedding. I'm going to schedule an appointment with my regular Dr on Monday to check my levels and see how my iron is now. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hopefully soon this will level off.

I've tried them. I wasn't a fan of the flavor. But they were recommended by my dietician

    Regret

Feeling regret is totally normal. I felt it from around day 4 to day 8. It was bad. But it was all my head and seeing the yummy food my friends kept posting on Facebook or getting an email from Pizza Hut. It gets better. I'm almost 3 weeks post off now and I am much happier.

What are you having for lunch/dinner

Still on full liquids so I blended some of the chili my husband made for dinner and it was amazing. Ate between 2 and 3 Oz and was full. Felt good to eat something other than broth.

Anyone gain weight @ 12 wks

In a stall you can bounce around a few pounds up or down. Also jeep in mind if you're anywhere near your cycle some bloating could be a contributing factor. Give it another week and weight again and you may be pleasantly surprised.

    SF pudding?

Yes. Sugar free pudding was allowed day 2 for me as well. I like to eat it cold. The chocolate now tastes sweeter so it's like I'm indulging

    How often do you weigh

Right now... every day. I'm 1 week post op. I'm going to try to start doing weekly because I know if I do daily and hit that infamous 3 week stall I am going to discourage myself further.
  17. I am the same way. But I know the liquid pretty much just flows on through. I have the head hunger like no one's business and it's making me emotionally a wreck. I do have some discomfort to remind me what I went through though. I struggle to get even my fluids in. 1 more week until the soft stage and I'm looking forward to it.
  18. What are some things you ate to change it up on your liquid phase? I'm about sick of yogurt and Popsicles and pudding and tomato soup and broths. So far the best thing I ate was the broth from a healthy veggie soup my husband made. It was so good I managed to eat 4 Oz and still wanted more. For those that have gone through the soft phase... what was your first soft food recipe? I start soft foods in 1 week and am looking forward to it. I found several pinterest recipes and was thinking of doing either a ricotta bake or refried beam Bake for my first soft food meal. Or would it be better to start with a soup. The healthy veggie soup mentioned above is a base of beef broth with spinach, zucchini, carrots, bell peppers, onions, and broccoli in it. So all very tender. Just looking for ideas so I know what to buy at the store and also so I have something to look forward to and get through this week. Also, how did you handle your first family get together? We have a mother's day cookout Saturday and Idk how I'm going to handle it. Only a couple know what I had done

    Sleeves 5/1

It is definitely a weird feeling. I will be 1 week out tomorrow and now only get a subtle feeling like that when I take my meds.

    Sleeves 5/1

I survived the 1st week! Have my 1 week follow up tomorrow. I have to say that today was the worst day by far. My head hunger was out of control and it had me regretting the surgery. Started with an email from pizza hut... it looked so good. Then a commercial for subway. Then my sister rubbing in going to Texas Roadhouse for a steak. My friend snapping me a pic of her Wendy's burger and fries about killed me. And finally with my husband bringing home lasagna and cake from his Dad's bday party. I did lick a peep today... I was weak. But you know what? Peeps give no flavor unless you bite it so it was a wasted lick. And a reminder at just how much of a b***h my own mind can be and that I need to fight twice as hard to knock her off her throne. I wanted to lick a piece of lasagna... but i didnt. Now that it's bed time I feel better. Not as sad and grumpy. And I didn't need any Zofran today so that's a win. On another note, I am struggling with my fluid intake. I have only met goal 1 day since surgery so I have to work on that big time. Also Pinterest has a ton of great recipes for the soft phase and further out too. Best of luck to all the other May 1st sleevers and hope everyone is doing well!

    Sleeves 5/1

The abdominal binder is a life saver. I just asked for one at the hospital and they gave it to me and helped me put it on. I learned about them after my c-section so I knew to ask. For me it helps the "my insides are falling out" feeling. It makes it much easier to get up and move around as well.

    Sleeves 5/1

Same here. It drives me insane sometimes the amount of itching I have. And the same thing with the incisions. They seem to be healing pretty well. The 2 biggest ones bother me the most. The largest one has the most pain around it and protrudes the furthest. Can't wait for that swelling to go down. I had to do Mira lax for 2 days to have a BM. then ended up with diarrhea for 2 days after. Now I'm back to issues having a BM. Hope you continue doing well!

    had my surgery today!

Yes. The abdominal binder is a lifesaver. I asked for one at the hospital and they gave it to me with no fuss. They knew exactly what I meant when I said the wrap thingie. Lol. My head was very foggy. Lol And I can confirm that the first week is full of mixed feelings. Tomorrow will be 1 week post op for me and today was the absolute hardest. I spent the majority of the day beating myself up and regretting this surgery because I couldn't have any of the food I wanted. I wasn't actually hungry... I just wanted that pizza that pizza Hut sent me a coupon to my email for and that subway sandwich I saw a commercial for and the lasagna my husband brought home from his dad's bday and that steak my sister made sure to rub in she was eating. It was all in my head. And it made today the hardest day yet. I am looking forward to the soft food stage. 1 more week. I keep reminding myself that this will all be worth it. Just stay strong and you will do great.

    2 Days post op

And if you don't like the sugar free fudge pops... you can buy sugar free chocolate fudge pudding and sugar free cool whip and make homemade fudge pops. My Dr was okay with me doing that so I made then in ice cube trays and if I'm struggling and wanting some real food... like I wanted to lick a cheese puff yesterday... I grab one of those and I'm good. Plus looking at post sleeve recipes on pinter estate has me all excited to start the soft food portion in a week and a half
