  1. Hi! I was wondering if anyone who is 5+ years since surgery is still experiencing any issues? I find that when I eat certain foods, much like when I was about a year or so out, that I have a feeling of being too full and can’t keep the food down. It isnt all the time. And it isnt really if I eat too much or too fast. I still eat pretty small meals at any given time and typically just eat 6 or so very small meals. An example would be if I eat pasta, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 a cup may feel unbearable and too full and can’t keep the pasta down. It could be something random like a handful of jelly belly jelly beans. I would say it happens maybe 1 a week? Just curious if anyone else has this issue. I have done well at keeping the weight off since the surgery and have hovered around 130-140 for the past 2 years. I am fairly active 50’s, 5’5 female. Thanks!!
  2. I am 4.75 years out and I find it varies greatly for me day to day. There are days where I get overly full out of the blue on something I eat regularly. I just started exercising again about 3 weeks ago when my friend got a treadmill etc for her garage when covid blocked my ability to run outside, gym or pilates. My norm is breakfast:coffee with collagen peptides, califa pumpkin spice coconut /almond milk and a premier protein (breakfast in general makes me grossed out unless it is at brunch time and by then I will mostly skip which is not good). Lunch: 90g cauliflower mash with 3oz shredded chicken mixed in. Dinner: tilapia filet or chicken or turkey burger. Dessert: 4 or 5 frozen strawberries with 10g of dark chocolate chips or 2-3 oz 0 fage with lemon juice and a squirt of liquid Splenda Grazing snacks vary by day or mood: 28g cream cheese or 1 laughing cow with 50-60g cucumber, 8g chicharone, 56g low sodium turkey deli meat, fennel and arugula with lemon dressing and Parmesan, 14g of cheese, 8oz bone broth. I also have vodka mixed with a lot of water and ice with a crystal light type flavoring. Amount of g or oz are more for my getting full area. I find even more than 4 years out I can easily over eat if not careful and become sick. Not all the time but enough times that I try and be conscientious. I asked my friend at my annual if I should be worried and he said that means I have been treating my stomach with care and not stretching it out too much. I will go with that hahaha...

    Favorite Grocery Products

Green giant bacon and cheese mashed cauliflower. When I reheat each day in little ramekins I mix in canned flakes chicken from Costco and it is delicious. 1 frozen mashed cauliflower makes lunch for all week.
  4. I have some protein mixes that are grapefruit syntax nectar for someone who may want them. Looking for someone who may be having surgery but is finding the cost of the protein drinks etc an issue. It isn't that many but want to get rid of them to a good home. If you are interested send me a message and if you are the first I will let u know and get your address. I found them pretty tasty.

    Not at Goal Weight

@Chaelove0810 - I know exactly what you are going through! I have been in a yoyo stall since around october/nov - 2016 and i had surgery 3/1/2016. My self imposed goal was 100 lb loss - and that would be a goal of 140 - I have gotten to 141 but never below. I recently have fluctuated back up to 146,147 at the highest and gotten back down to 142. it is a never ending cycle - But I DO track everything I eat in the free myfitnesspal app and can see a pattern. I had gall bladder surgery March 1 2017 (exactly 1 year after VSG with the same dr) after being hospitalized for 5 days with severe pancreatitis and ever since then i have been eating more carbs and junk because i feel tired and out of sorts. but today I am gonna kickstart again - low low carbs - high high Protein - PM Me if you want to join myfitnesspal and we can be friends and hold each other accountable Good Luck Half the battle is recognizing that you may be going the wrong path and then righting yourself!
  6. Tuna packs are my go to as well - My grocery has them on sale quite often for 99 cents and the 99 cent store has them, well for 99 cents :). I tend to go with the non flavored and the low sodium so i can control the carbs and the flavor. I mix in some dill pickle relish from the fridge (no one tends to steal that)

    Ripple "milk"

Thanks! I will probably use it as my coffee foam as it is supposed to foam nicely. We shall see. I will finish it out since it was pricey compared to milk milk [emoji3]

    Ripple "milk"

Hi all. I just came across a new "milk" called ripple. It is pea plant based. 80 calories for 8 ounces. 8 G protein 5 g fat and 0 carbs or sugar. The unsweetened tasted kinda yuck when I drank some but I squirted a tiny bit of liquid Splenda and it wasn't bad at all. I am trying to reset my carbs and sugar for a few weeks and this may be helpful and thought I would share. I use fairlife quite a bit but my grocery stopped carrying it and I need to find again.

    1 year anniversary

@Josie1958 - congrats on starting your journey - For exercise i would say i didnt start for a few months after surgery (3/1 surgery) -I was fairly tired and i felt more confortable when i got some weight off - I joined the gym and booked with a trainer starting around may 2016 - I see the trainer 2 times a week (at some point i will do on my own but i like that extra push). I then added some rowing in when my sister gave me her concept 2 rowing machine. Around July 2016, I started the couch to 5k program and did that 3 times a week. I did my first 5k in september 2016, another 5k in early nov, a 5 mile at thanksgiving (and I have another run next weekend). I started Pilates 3x a week around oct through now. i LOVE pilates - it helps shape the body in ways you can't imagine and makes you STRONG! I got sick in january so i am off schedule a bit but am slowly getting back in the swing of things after surgery and a trip - I would say I feel my best when I do 5-6 days of some sort of exercise at about an hour a day. - such a vast difference from my old self that said i dont have time to exercise (and then spent 7 hours watching tv). The exercise is making the difference for me - because it is my outlet that i use now where i used to rely on food.

@Bluesky1 - I have been pretty adept now at eyeballing what the size/weight would be - but still weigh food when i am at home and it is a new recipe or food or when i feel i am getting off track a bit - I will make my chicken, for example, think what i think the weight is and then measure it - if i am more than .5 ounces off then i weigh everything for a week to re-adjust myself. I log everything in myfitnesspal (the good, the bad and the ugly) and mostly just pay attention to my protein/carb/fat ratio. I hate to say i have struggled a bit getting my calorie count back up so i can fluctuate between 800-1200 Calories a day. I can eat normal amounts for a vsg person I guess - Probably can get down between 4-6 ounces at a time depending on the bulk of it. Typically I will have as a meal: pre-breakfast: coffee, splenda, fat free half and half (or regular half and half if I am out of my house) Breakfast on days where I am hungry: 0% Fage greek plain yogurt with lemon juice, splenda, 1/4 banana and a handful of raisin bran for crunch Mid morning: premier Protein chocolate drink lunch: 2.5 oz tuna pack with light mayo and dill relish Snacks if i snack: beef jerkey, a few Peanut Butter pretzels (which i am trying to cut out as they are wasted carbs and i wish they wouldnt have at the office). If i am hungry i will maybe have the yogurt or cottage cheese if the jerkey isnt in stock at the office Dinner: I mixed it up between home cooked grilled fish or chicken (in a variety of preparations...could be with mexican seasoning or asian or gravy, etc.) with a squash or green vegetable, zoodles with turkey meat sauce, turkey or chicken "burger" with blue cheese crumbles in a low carb tortilla with avocado or just on a plate, turkey mexican salad, eggplant Parmesan with turkey and cottage cheese to up the protein. When i create meals, i will normally weigh them out and make recipes to store in myfitnesspal so i dont have to type it all in each time. I typically do sashimi 2x a week after my trainer or get beef carpaccio as a treat. Other snacks: cheese stick, boars head turkey pepperoni, light babybel, cucumbers with bolthouse avocado greek salad dressing and lemon juice, Sweet Craving satisfiers: grapes, dole dippers 60 calorie strawberry packs, a few tablespoons of halo top or similar ice cream, skinnygirl Milk Chocolate Truffles with Sea Salt Toffee Alcohol(Don't judge): 1.5 ounces of citrus vodka in a 44 ounce tumbler with Water, big ice cubes, a squirt powder packet (I love these) and ginger powder - I also mix msm powder for my joints into it. I also cheat on my diet. I have a pizza slice at the office every once in a blue moon, each spinach dip or nachos when we are out, sour patch kids, etc. but I log it all and keep myself accountable and acknowledge when i put it in my mouth that I am consciously eating something that i gain no benefit from- and i am ok with that, I guess. I decided awhile ago that I am not going to deprive myself of the joys of food - but i am NOT going to ever again 1) reward myself with food, 2) self medicate myself with food when i am feeling sad or down, 3) eat out of boredom. As long as what I am eating is not for one of these reasons, them I am ok with it in small amounts. I have been fluctuating for many months and cannot get to below 140 - i go 140.2 - 145 - today i was 143.7 - go figure. Probably because i have been busy at work and haven't worked out since getting back from a trip on monday.

    Let's talk about stalls...

Same here - around 3-4 week mark for 2-3 weeks if i remember correctly - many stalls along the way - even when i did the same activity and ate the same foods. My surgery was March 2016 and i steadily lost until around october 2016 - where it has taken me october til now (~5 months) to get down 10 pounds - going up and down 2-4 pounds over and over again. I call that a protracted stall - but i am 1 pound from goal or there abouts - stalls will happen - and it is easy to obsess - but save yourself the worry - if you are eating what you are supposed to or close to it - maybe lay of the weighing for a week or two - the weight will go

    1 year anniversary

Well today is my year 1 surgeversery. I will try to keep it short, but all I can say is I am so happy I did the surgery. I am so much healthier. I need to do the measurements. I am just 1 pound shy of my goal. I started at 240 and today I was 141. I am very happy with my progress. I just got home from Switzerland where my "good time" was doing a 6 mile run along the Rhine instead of eating my way through all of their foods. I had a decadent chocolate every day and that was ok. The old me would have bought boxes of chocolates as presents to bring home and would have eaten them all in the middle of the night. I am thankful everyday for this. I am going to be brave and post pictures. My friend stored my before pictures which are actually about 3 weeks post surgery because I couldn't stand looking at them. She texted them to me today and told me not to be upset and think how far I came. I was more sad at the thought that I let myself go through life for years like that and missed out on all of the happiness I have been feeling since the weight loss. I am 3 weeks away from my 46th birthday and I feel younger now than in my 30's. The happiness I feel now comes from feeling so healthy and strong and sporty . So cheers to me And cheers to you! Without the support of you great people I couldn't have done it. And cheers to you newbies who are on this site researching wls. I won't tell you what to do as it is a personal choice, but I can say healthy is the new sexy. The after pics are 1: after my 3rd 5k and 2: my pilates studio Christmas party Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
