I have struggled with weight loss in my adult years.  Since I was in elementary school, I was borderline obsessed with weight.  Once I graduated from high school, I began to obsess with my obsession with weight loss.  I begun to workout and yo-yo diet.  My weight was not bad.  However, once I graduated from college and began to work, I continued to yo-yo diet.  I have done everything from the Mayo clinic 3 day diet; 7 day diet, weight watchers, cleansing diets; Atkins diet, and others to name a few.  Each time I dieted, I always gained the weight back.  Exercising was never a problem for me because I enjoyed it.  I was battling the emotional eating monster.

I had my first and only child at age 31, and that was 5 years ago.  Once I had her, I was able to lose some of the weight, but working out became a chore because I had a child to take care of and I work full time.  Even though I am married, I have had a tough time trying to get a routine and stick with it.  My priorities completely changed.

Last year I experienced some difficult challenges in my marriage that made me reconsider how I was taking care of myself.  In the midst of everything, I began to develop reoccurring arthritis in my left knee and my low arch support in my right foot limited my ability to do the workouts that I was used to doing.  Rather than claiming defeat, I began to go to by PCP to start their weight loss program and I told him that the lap-band surgery would be my last resort if that did not work out.  I needed to get my blood pressure checked to ensure that I would be able to take the Adipex that I was used to taking to help me suppress my appetite and give me more energy. That November 2014 I discovered I had high blood pressure and I was told I needed to get my blood pressure down before I could get the medicine.  Eventually, it came down with medicine.  I was given the go ahead for Adipex.  I began to lose. My high weight was 335.  My stressors began to bother me more and I was taken off the Adipex and tried Belviq.  I was not satisfied.  Eventually my blood pressure was controlled again and I started the Adipex and got down to 325 as my lowest, but I felt that I was having a problem.  I decided that it was time to do something different because my weight started going back up.

I heard one of my daughter's daycare teachers talking about having the Lap-band surgery and one day I asked her about it.  She shared with me her story, and I decided to make an appointment with Dr.Bagnato.  I am attempting the sugar buster's diet.  I have seen the psychiatrist for my assessment and I see the nutritionist on September 23.  I have my last appointment with Dr. B on October 12 before I get clearance for the surgery.  He said it would be quick for the approval.  I was up to 332 when I went on my initial visit and I am down five pounds.  He was satisfied with it, but I need to get serious about the sugar busters so I can feel confident.

I have a mixture of emotions concerning this journey.  I stumbled upon this website because I was looking for a community with stories and real humans telling the stories.  I have been watching the surgeries on youTube.  I am finally ready to tell my story and take this next step to a new life.
