I had the lap band surgery in October 2007 with Dr. Marina Kurian. After May 2008, I really fell down hill. My sis in law passed away from gastric bypass surgery and it made me not want to go back to my dr. since the same dr. did our surgeries. I gained 20lbs, lost a few gained. I was on steroids for breaking out in hives and no dr. can not find the answer to why as of this day. I gained over 80 lbs from the steroids. Then in 2011 I finally decided to go back to my lap band dr. I found out I had a leak. She didn't know where the leak was coming from. She filled my band with xray dye since it's a thicker solution and that did not help. She didn't really wanna be bothered I felt. In 2012 I went back to see her to discuss having my lap band fixed and I waited in the room for over an hr. and she is in her coat in the hall way and she says to me "hey what r u doing here" I said well i have an appointment with you to discuss surgery. and she says " oh my god I am sorry but I really have to go, I am already late to get my hair done and my hair dresser always gets mad when I am late" I was like WTF????? this doc just ditched me to get her hair done?????? Wow that shows how much she cares about her patients! So I work for surgeons that are affilaited in the same hospital and 1 of my Dr.'s I work for suggested Dr. Bradley Schwack to me. I finally got my Surgery done on March 1, 2013. He had to replace my whole band! He said nothing looked right so he decided to just put everything new. He said It looked like Dr. Kurian had placed the band too far down on the stomach thats why I never felt any restrictions. Or maybe it slipped. Well hopefully I am on the road to the right track this time with the lap band.
