For one, thanks for looking at my profile, I’m new to this site and would love all the help/support I can get

I have always been overweight my whole life and when I used to live in the UK my parents always had dieticians over trying to help, but nothing would work, we started getting some tests done but nothing was showing what was wrong and why I was gaining weight and could never lose it. I ended up moving and not being able to finish my tests, so when we came over here to Canada my parents thought lets allow her to get adjusted to moving and see where things go, so I was still gaining weight, while being over here my family doctor referred me to some different clinics (eating disorders) and nothing was working again, I started trying different things on my own and I would lose maybe 5 pounds but gain 10 pounds. I ended up dating a guy who loved me when I had gotten to my heaviest which was 440lbs, yes I know I was huge but I’m 5’11 and people always told me I never looked more than 300lbs which I guess is kind of okay. So while I was dating this guy while we were in school (me in grade 12, him in grade 13) he was asking different people what we could do and we tried them but still no success.

It got to the point I had enough, I was done being so huge and always being in pain with my knees, my back, and just an overall overwhelming pain. I had also been having issues with my chest with pain and couldn’t figure if it was coming from my lungs or my heart. Me and him and been looking online about the gastric bypass surgery and I saw the results and was very excited about it. So me and my dad went to my family doctor to talk about it and my doctor was not really happy due to that it’s a permanent surgery and was talking to us about the lap band and explain it briefly while we were talking about this he had told us about SICKKIDS HOSPITAL ( in Toronto ) had brought out a new program for children who had weight issues, so because I was 17 he referred me to the hospital and I was accepted in march 2010, whilst in the program they look at all different contributes on health/weight (diet, exercise, mind, and general health) I fell in love with the program seeing it was the only thing that helped me lose weight keep it off and still keep losing more, the only issue was, I wasn’t losing the weight fast enough. So at the beginning of September when I was at my 6 month review of the program my mum had came with me and got very upset cause she was scared she was going to lose me before I was 21 cause I was still large. So at that point I had to see a cardiologist to check my heart was strong enough to handle surgery.

While preparing for surgery I was put onto a ketosis diet which is where you eat pure protein every meal all day for however long, I was on the diet for 3.5 weeks and lost over 30lbs. On October 25th 2010 I had my surgery. It’s been the best choice I ever made and am so glad I did.
