THE FIRST DAY OF PRE-SURG DIET and THE REST OF MY LIFE

Lord Help:

This is the first day of the rest of my life!!!!! Today I started my pre-op diet after spending the last about 10 months on a downward spiral with regards to my weight (or should I and upward trend). I started looking into weight loss surgery about 2 years ago but decided against it and instead I started Weight Watchers. I lost about 25lbs and got tired of all the tracking and stuff so I stop tracking and counting points. I was able to maintain my weight loss for about a year and even lost more in the Spring of last year. Last December, my partner then had surgery and lost over 150lbs. I saw his success and the fact that he could no longer overeat without consequences and was losing very well. I saw others who have had the surgery and had lost weight and were successful so I began to revisit the options for surgery for myself. I contacted one place and they wanted to schedule me for an appointment and were talking about a surgery date within a month before I even had my first appointment and so I knew that was not the facility for me to use because it seemed like the only thing they were interested in was the surgery and not my goal of using the surgery as a tool to help me loss and also maintain my success.

At the time when I called my current Dr.'s office I was down almost to a weight they thought would not qualify me for surgery so they told me do not lose any more weight. With that being said, all beats were off to a certain degree. I think since I was planning on using the surgery as a tool, I stopped trying for the most part and up the scale started to go. When I went on vacation for a week, I gained 10lbs. (I can relate to the Blogger who said they gained 8lbs in one week and I never thought for one minute it was water gain).

Fast forward, here I am today starting my pre-op diet and looking to change my life forever with the surgery. I am looking to having a tool that helps me feel full and not push pass any notion of being fulled just because I want it r trying to eat some emotion or feeling way, I do know that I must continue work on my issues with food but I am hoping that surgery will be a tool that I can use to help me tackle the areas have have struggled with for some time now.

Reading various post about people who still feel hungry and can eat much more than they thought in addition to the stalls have caused me to question if I am fooling myself or if I have realistic expectations because f there is nothing else I have learned from the pre-cert information and training I have received regarding the surgery, I am still going to have to work on changing my habits and controlling myself in order to maintain any success I hope to gain from surgery,

Enough of my rant this morning, I am just hoping that I will be successful in my attempt to make this change. It seems like it is going to be even harder for me because my current partner is not interested in joining me in my quest to eat healthier or loss weight, He is happy with himself and see no need to change his health although he has a number of co-morbidity health issues. I am facing this battle alone it seems although he says he will support me if I just tel him what I need him to do for me.

At one point, I thought I needed him to not bring food into our home that I have an issue with but then I read some post on the sites I am a member of regarding WLS and decided that it i not fair for me to expect him to support me by joining me in my quest. He is already intimidated the drastic changes that are projected with the surgery. I believe he may thing that because he is happy with me the way I am, I am unhappy with myself imagine and only doing this for cosmetic reasons because I do not need to much over 100lbs to be considered healthier. I believe, I have counted the cost and have come to the conclusion that surgery is the appropriate option for me. So here I am first day of pre-op diet, starting this journey to a healthier me!!! Please wish me luck and thanks in advance for your support!!!
